Sarah-Sings-1

Man, I was so excite when I found the Smule Sing! app for my iPad. One of my girlfriends had been using it and posting some of her covers to Facebook, and after a bit of persuasion, I decided to give it a try. Holy Hamburgers am I glad that I did!

I have been wanting to find an outlet for my singing for a while now that could be as casual or as committed as I wanted, without having to rely upon anyone else and her we are. I posted my first ever song on my Half assed new years resolutions post, and have been completely addicted since. So as promised, here are some of my favorite tunes of the moment, covered by myself (and a few lovely fellows from overseas!). I hope you enjoy them!

All about that Bass – Postmodern Jukebox

I am a really big fan of this song, both by Meghan Trainor and Postmodern Jukebox, but this version I think just fits my voice perfectly! I hope you enjoy it 🙂

Love you like I’m going to lose you – Meghan Trainor

This song I was invited to sing by JessieWilliams50. At first I was a little apprehensive about doing this song as I didn’t know it all that well, but once I figured it out and gave it a go it has fast become one of my favorites to sing 🙂

Be our guest – Beauty and the Beast

This song really needs no explaining. Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite Disney film and this song is great. I really loved how MikeEsparza10 put on all the different character voices, so i just had to join in 🙂

Thank you for listening, I really hope you enjoyed it! Have a song you think I should cover? Leave me a comment below and I’ll see what I can do 🙂

Neko-Nation-Jan-2016

Neko Nation Adelaide has now come and gone again, and it was a blast! This was my 3rd time attending, and I feel like I was nowhere near as prepared for it as I was the previous two. I’d been feeling sick all day, and had to spend most of my day napping just so I had enough energy to go that night! I ended up playing designated driver for the night which worked out quite well for me anyway as I was able to give a friend a ride in to the event.

I was completely un organised when it came to my outfit this time around, but I managed to throw something together at the last-minute. You can check out my outfit post here. I think considering how last-minute my outfit plans were, it all came together rather well. I did have a minor wardrobe malfunction thought, as the zipper to my skirt decided to die just as I was walking out the door. I ended up having to safety-pin myself into it 😛 The high heels didn’t last long either, as you can see in the photo’s that follow.

Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 8 Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 7

My car buddy Colin said he also had a wardrobe malfunction, in that he was going to wear a onsie, but then Adelaide decided to turn into a sauna and he was too hot. I’m kinda glad he changed his mind though, his pink maids outfit was super adorable.

We found the cat girls with sushi doing their rounds not too soon after we got there. Thanks to all my stupid allergy issues I couldn’t have any, but it all looked so yummy, and there was heaps of it about. I didn’t see any of the sushi cat girls last Neko Nation, but then again Corrina and I did disappear off earlier in the night to get some decent cocktails else where, so we must have missed them.

Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 2

I had a blast dancing downstairs to Sammi’s super kawaii pop DJ set, which was an awesome mix of J-pop, Anime and cheezy 90’s music. We did the Macareana, it was amazing! Not only is Sammi a brilliant DJ, but she is also fellow Trashdoll and just one of the cutest girls you could ever lay eyes on too.

Sammy Colby Neko Nation DJ

The DJ’s in the top room I found to be pretty awesome as well, I really enjoyed the sets I was up there for. This was something a bit different for me, as usually that type of music is not quite my style. It would seem that drunk Sarah and Sober Sarah have different tastes in music! 😛

 Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 4

I actually spent a fair bit of time upstairs this time around, dancing like crazy with these lovely people and chatting out on the balcony when it got too hot.

Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 6

As a whole, I thought that the whole event was organised fantastically. I only have one gripe about it. I absolutely loved the crown and scepter as a venue for the last one, but this time around I found that it wasn’t great. My main reasoning for that was that last time Neko Nation was in June, which means the weather was considerably cooler. With people dancing up a storm, the inside fans were just fine as you could escape into the cool outside area’s to get some air when you got to hot inside.

Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 3

Since this one was held in January, which is pretty much the middle and hottest part of our summer for my readers not from Aus, the lack of air conditioning in the venue was considerably more noticeable this time around. It had been a super hot day, and hadn’t cooled down much more by the time it got dark, so the whole place was like a stinky sweaty furnace on the inside. There was no escape from it either, as it was just as hot on the outside of the venue!Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 1

Air conditioning issues aside, Neko Nation, as always, was a wicked fun night. There were far more people there that I knew this time around and I really enjoyed wandering around, chatting with them and making new friends.

Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 9

New friends, such as Mark from Maetogrophy who took this adorable photo of myself and Chelsea (better known as Pocket Sized Vampire Panda) and the photo above of Sammi DJing. Awesome photo’s man, thanks for taking them!sig-tag

ootd-neko-nation

Gosh, considering I have been on holidays for so long, I was sooo unorganized for Neko Nation! (Post on the event to follow!) I think it was just because I had been feeling so sick for the few days leading up to it, that I hadn’t bothered to specifically plan for it.

Neko Nation jan 16 3

Lucky for me, I have a ridiculously stuffed wardrobe and was able to pull something super kawaii together for the night!

Make Up

I was going for a bit of a magical girl look with this outfit, so I kept my whole eye area quite light with a white shimmer. Then on the lids I added a light pink and darkened it as I reached the edge of my eye. Then I covered both my lid and the area under my eye in fine silver glitter.

For eye liner, I lined the whole top of my eye finishing for a wing, and then continued under my ey until about half way. I hate wearing lower false lashes, so actually painted extra lashes on underneath with the eye liner. I then finished the whole look off by adding some super long curly lashes, and penciling in my eyebrows with a light brown colour to try match the wig a little.

As always, I went with hot pink lipstick, or the matte Lime Crime variety 😉

2015-lolita-coordinates

Our community had an online event, asking us all to share a collection of our different coordinates from throughout the year. I didn’t realize, but I have worn Lolita soooooo much this year, more than double the amount I wore it last year! Here is the collage I made, and this isn’t even all our meets, as I was trying to not double up on print’s too much in this photo.

2015 lolita coordinates

Looking back on my photo’s, I definitely have a few clear favorites. On the top of that list, surprisingly would seem to be my Cotton Candy Shop special set JSK from Angelic Pretty. I wore it so much last year, I just love all the colours on it!

Kawaii international kawaii dolly contest miss venusfury of oh so kawaii 1

Coming a close second I would have to say would be my Milky Planet JSK from Angelic Pretty. I was so excited to get my hands on the entire set in one hit, I just wore it to death. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want to walk around with and upside-down ice cream cone on their head?

Oz ComicCon 15 16

Last but not least, coming in third place would be my Chess Chocolate low waisted JSK from Angelic Pretty (yeah I’m a massive AP fan…). This was one of my most worn dresses last year as well, I just love how it sits on me ^_^

Chess Chocolate JSK Angelic Pretty

SOme of my other observations from this years coordinates is that after I dyed my hair black/purple, I stopped wearing wigs a lot. I still wore my blonde/pink/purple one a fair bit when I wanted to be blonde, but for the most part I used my natural hair!

I have acquired a few more dresses recently during the end of the year (Fancy paper Dolls and Crystal Dream Carnival!), so I will be interested to see what my most worn pieces will be this year!

So tell me, which of my coordinates from last year is your favorite?

oz-asia-festival-2015

I have never been to the Oz Asia Festival before, so when the Adelaide lolita community was invited to put on a parade, I was quite keen to be a part of it. We were supposed to be doing a parade on both the Saturday and Sunday, but I only Attended the Saturday.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 1

I wore my Cotton Candy Shop JSK, as dispite my initial reaction to it when I received it, it has fast become one of my favourite prints. It was a ridiculously hot day so instead of the matching OTK’s, I decided to go with some cute little ankle socks lest I die of heat exhaustion. Of course I brought along my lovely pink parasol, which was originally supposed to just be for show for the sake of the parade, but I actually ended up getting quite a lot of use out of it to keep the sun off.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 3 Oz Asia Festival 2015 4

The Oz Asia festival had set up this lovely Japanese inspired stage which they used to put on shows of different things relating to Japanese culture throughout the day. They had a few different drumming and martial arts presentations before they had our little lolita parade.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 5

Everyone looked so beautiful all dolled up for the parade.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 11

Once it was all done, we wandered around and had a look through all the different places. They had a “Passport” you could get stamped when you went into each different country’s area.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 7 Oz Asia Festival 2015 9

When we went to China, I found this place that sold these weird “J” shaped code things that got filled with ice cream, that happened to be gluten free! I just had to try one. One of my friends mentioned that the end of it looked like a butt hole, so we spent the rest of the day giggling about it.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 8

It was pretty darn tasty though, and being so hot it was nice to have some thing to cool me down.

I really hope we get asked back again next year a I had such a great time!

ouitfit of the day kawaii-ice-cream-girl

It has been so super hot in Adelaide lately, that my outfits have needed to cover less and less. It doesn’t seem to matter how hot it is though, I always feel weird without a cardigan or something to cover my shoulders.

kawaii Ice cream girl 6

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I work in a very air conditioned building, and although it may be stupid hot outside, sometimes it can feel like a freezer inside. Plus, I burn in the sun super easy so it’s always nice to be a little bit covered.

Outfit Break down:

Shoes: White neon glowing shoes from KoKo Pie, with added lightning bolts to make me move faster 😛

Socks: Ruby Shoes

Shorts: Bought second-hand from Irving Baby

Belt: White with gold buckle, from Valley Girl

Top: White melty top handmade by me

Cardigan: Angelic Pretty

Necklace: Bought from Equip! (in the kids section!)

PAX-AUS-2015

I can’t believe it has taken me so long to get to this since PAX Aus was in the beginning of November last year! But hey, like I always say, better late than never right? 😛 So here is how it all went down…

Day One

PAX 2015 1

I was so excited to wear this coordinate for the first day of PAX! Mostly, because I had just got my fancy paper dolls set in the mail a few days before we left, and I hadn’t had a chance to wear it yet. It was a dream dress get, so I was super pleased it arrived in time!

PAX 2015 6

We spent most of the first day walking around the main room just looking at all the stuff. They had this cool super Mario brothers set up, I just had to get a photo in the pipe! There were so many huge stalls and big name games in the main hall that Mr Tardo and I were like kids in a candy store 😛 We spent most of the first day just wandering around looking at stuff.

PAX 2015 5

We did however go to one panel. It was game of D&D, with Audience participation.  It only went or about an hour, but I was in stitches the whole time. I was hilarious!  They had us live tweeting idea’s for each character using the #liveRPGplus has tag, here was some of my input:

liveRPGPlus tweets

To check out the rest of the tweets, click here.

PAX 2015 4PAX 2015 3

I also found a place nearby that made truly amazing caramel macaroons. I was naughty and went back and got one every day, and by the end of the holiday one of the guys working there recognized me and gave me a second one for free ^_^ yay Macaroons!

I managed to snap the strap on the shoes I was wearing halfway through the day, so I headed back to the hotel for an outfit change. Which then turned into playing with my newly purchased head set, and having a nap 😛

PAX 2015 7

Day Two

Day two I was in such a rush to get out the door (Mr Tardo was adamant he wanted to get there early), that I completely forgot to take an outfit shot! This is the only selfie I managed to get when I remembered later on in the day 😛 I wore my adorable blue toy parade mini skirt, my tea party blouse and a pink cardigan.

PAX 2015 21

Since we were up early, Mr Tardo and I, and a few of the friends we were sharing our apartment with went out for breakfast 🙂

PAX 2015 8 PAX 2015 9

Most of the second day for me was spent playing board games, and running around collecting QR codes. I managed to find them all last year, but alas I missed 2 of them this year.

PAX 2015 12

Zombiecide was one of my favourite games of the day. I had heard so much about it, and it did not disappoint!

Day Three

For the last day I decided to go all out on the coordinate, so OTT sweet with my pink Milky Planet was what i decided to wear. I have the matching everything for my milky planet set, including the super adorable upside down ice cream headband ^_^

PAX 2015 14

The sunday was a big day for cosplay, but strangely enough I didn’t take all that many photos. Our two friend Tom and Katey went as waring DOTA characters, just because they thought it would be cute to walk around holding hands dressed as them. I am so sorry, but I cannot actually remember the characters names! There was also this hilarious  “Floreda” cosplay from the Simpsons that I just had to get a photo of it was so great.

PAX 2015 10PAX 2015 11

The only panel we made it to on the last day was “The worst games ever created” panel. They were all x-box games, and included titles such as duke nuke’m and star trek the game. Pimp my ride kinda won as the worst game ever though. It was pretty funny watching the guest panelists play them though.

PAX 2015 13

On the last day I finally ran into some other Lolita’s, who all looked just stunning and were lovely to chat with. Charlotte in the middle is actually from the Adelaide Comm 🙂

PAX 2015 15

After lunch Katy and I decided to ditch the boys and go try out the “Paint n Take”.

PAX 2015 16

I picked what looked like some sort of sorcerer, and of course painted her all in pin and purple. Katy went for more of a warrior, but he had to be pink also 😛

PAX 2015 17 PAX 2015 18 PAX 2015 19

Then of course we ended the day off with some more board games. I forget the name of this one, although it was quite similar to Incan Gold, was super fun and the art work was so pretty.

PAX 2015 20

Just as they were starting to kick us out, I got talking into buying a little card game called “F**k, the game” which is a little card game that uses colours and swear words to help train your brain. I am so glad I bought it, it’s so funny to play, especially with drunk people.

And that was PAX Australia for 2015! Mr Tardo and I have already got our tickets for next year, as it is becoming a rather un missable event for us! 🙂

botanic-gardens-lolita-meet

Gosh this was a while ago now, but I just recently found all the photo’s on my phone, and they were so lovely I had to share.

This lolita meet was when summer was just starting to show its face, and was one of our first of the season (it happens often) when we decided to change to an inside venue because it was forecast to be super hot.

For my coordinate, I decided to go without a wig. Mostly because it was quite warm, and I have been loving my purple hair with coordinates a lot lately.

Botanic gardens lolita meet 1

For my outfit, I wore my toy parade mini skirt in sax, my tea party blouse with the peter pan collar and just a simple pink cardigan. I had been out some where (I don’t remember where) that morning so threw the outfit together pretty quickly so I could get out the house.

Botanic gardens lolita meet 4

All the girls had gone to Grill’d for lunch instead of the originally planned picnic in the gardens. It wasn’t as hot as originally forecast, but it was still pretty warm. I managed to miss them at lunch, but because it was such a lovely day we all decided to grab a take away cup of tea and go for a walk through the gardens anyway.

Botanic gardens lolita meet 5

We found a lovely little spot near the duck ponds to just sit and chat, and of course take all the silly selfies and outfit shots.

Botanic gardens lolita meet 2

We had so many sweet pastel prints out that day we just had to take a picture.

Botanic gardens lolita meet 3

I didn’t manage to get a shot of the whole group for some reason, but I did get this lovely one of all the “sweet” lolita’s!

half-assed-new-year-resolutions-for-2016

Hi there guys! The time has come again for me to share with you my half assed resolutions for 2016, and in keeping with tradition they are arriving on the blog fashionably late 😛

So whats the theory behind my so called “Hal-assed” resolutions? Well, I started it as a though back in 2014. I have never really been all that big on making resolutions, as I stated in that very first post, the closest thing I had ever gotten to making a resolution was “I resolve to go to the bar and have another shot”. Lol. I have always hated putting boundaries on myself in regards to long period of time, where I have no idea what I am going to be doing. I am a spontaneous person, and the thought of putting something into place now, that is only going to make me feel guilty if I change my mind and don’t do later, has never really appealed to me.  Enter the idea of half-assed resolutions. These are things that appeal to me right now, and are specific, like “Buy the damn dress” rather than “Get fit” or “lose weight”.

So without further ado, I give you…

new-years

  • Buy Angelic Pretty’s Romantic Rose Letter

AP Romantic Rose letter

This has been my dream dress since I saw it on a girl in our comm at our lovely pairs valentines day meet. I MUST own it, it is so lovely. I am hoping that 2016 is the year that happens.

  • Get Married!

Drunk Sarah trying to make Riccardo kiss me :P

There is now less than three months until I am getting married to this guy, and I have so much still to do. START PANICKING!

I can do this. JUST. BREATH.

  • Sing More

I have wanted to do some work on my singing voice for a while now and wasn’t sure how I wanted to go about it. Then my lovely friend Anna introduced me to Smule Sing! and I found my answer. Its pretty cool.  So I present to you, my first attempt at singing on the app. I’ll warn you, its not great. But hey, I can only go up from here! 😛

  • Attempt to post regularly

blog

I chose this as a thing last year, and then proceeded to completely fall off the rails. Lets hope that this graphic isn’t cursed 😛 I do so much stuff, I feel like I should stay on top of my posts so I am not posting about things that happened months ago.

  • Get a regular “outfit of the day”, “Sarah Sings”, “Get In My Wardrobe” and “Nail’s of the month” posts up and running

I’ve already kinda been doing regular OOTD and Nail of the month post, but I would like to keep that going 🙂 As for “Sarah Sings” I thought I would start posting some of the songs I have and will be doing through Smule, I may even take requests 😉 Get in my wardrobe will be a regular post of all the cute things I find online, that I wish I owned.

  • Update my wardrobe

nothing to wear

My style has changed so much lately, and I now own so many clothes. Its getting ridiculous. I have recently been doing a cull of all my stuff, and I have about 4 moving boxes full of things to sell or even possibly give away now, and I am still taking up most of the wardrobe space in our house. I want to slowly start culling more things, and updating with super cute kawaii stuff.

  • Find one/many sponsors

I would love to be a brand ambassador for a cute store! These are some of my favorites, but I am open to anything really! (If you have a store and would like to collaborate, you should definitely contact me!)

  • By more shoes

Because hey, I was probably going to do it anyway. You can never have too many shoes in my opinion. Plus, I own a whole heap of black ones at the moment, I need more colour. I am just aching to get my hands on a pair of these babies from Vivienne Westwood. Aren’t they just gorgeous?!

  • Build up my social media following

My blog has been going for a few years, but it has only been recently that  have been able to start up a Facebook page. This is mostly owing to the fact that Facebook blocked my URL for god knows what reason. I eventually got it unblocked, but now to build up a following! I hope to have over 1000 followers on both Facebook and Instagram by the time the end of next year rolls around. I think I can do it!
