Annual Lolita Chocolate Meet | Angelic Pretty's Chess Chocolate Coordinate

The annual chocolate meet for the Adelaide lolita community is always a big one. It is usually held around Easter, and everybody puts onΒ their favourite chocolate prints, we meet up some where and you guessed it – eat a lot of chocolate. This year was no different. The time and date was set,Β and we went and took over the top floor of Koko Black for the afternoon.

As some of you who have been reading my blog for a little while might have guessed, when it comes to anything chocolate related my go to print is Chess Chocolate by Angelic pretty. It was the first brand dress I ever owned, and the first print I managed to collect the entire set for (I have everything – blouse, bonnet, bow, socks). To this day it is still one of my favourite dresses, so of course I had to wear it out. I decided I would wear the head bow this time, as I wore the same outfit to last years Chocolate meet only with the bonnet. (hey, its a good coordinate, and I say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!)

The groupΒ sat down and ordered together, and everyone blended in with their surroundings perfectly πŸ˜› There were so many delicious looking sweet things that people ordered, but I went for this glorious looking cake.

I can never move past anything that is salted caramel flavour, and today was no different. This was a salted caramel mouse with a flourless chocolate cake in the middle. It had a piece of toffee leaning on the side of it, and when they brought it to the table the waitress poured hot caramel sauce down it, like a slide. I was in heaven, and yes it tasted as good at is looked.

All hyped up on sugar, we all left the cafe. It was a busy Saturday so we were stopped by a lot of people for photographs. We eventually got sick of it and disappeared up to the top floor of regency arcade to escape. We were all being a little bit silly, and I got a great bunch of photo’s of “Lolita’s behaving badly” lol.

As when we made it to the end of the arcade there was a lovely lady coming out of the haigh’s chocolate store room who was kind enough to take a group photograph of us all – our timing could not have been better. I think this photo looks like we just stepped out of the chocolate factory. Don’t we all just look delicious?!

Do you have a favourite “go to” dress for certain occasions? and if so, what is it? Let me know in the comments!

2015-adelaide-lolita-halloween-party

Due to PAX being held on the same weekend as Halloween, our comm’s annual Halloween party didn’t actually happen until halfway through November πŸ˜› After having hosted a bunch of Lolita’s at my house for my 50 Shades Pinker Birthday party, the Admin girls convinced me to host this years party at my house πŸ˜› Which of course I was more than happy to do. So Friday the 13th after work, I headed home, and some of the girls came around a little early to help set up and decorate.

After having spent so much time away from home because of PAX and having to go to QLD for my Uncles Funeral, I didn’t have much time to organise a costume. So I decided to bring out my kitty costume, because it is adorable, easy and goes with pretty much everything πŸ˜› I was still getting dressed/made up as people were starting to arrive, so I’m still feeling pretty chuffed about how well my make up came out.

As with most of our group parties, we asked everyone to bring a plate of something, but this time with a twist – it had to be Halloween themed! There were prizes for both best dressed and best party food, so stakes were high. Below are a few pictures of some of my favourites, everyone went all out and everything was not only delicious, but looked super cool. In the end, Charlotte took out the prize for best food with her candy corn and monster finger cookies.

By some mirical, the supermarkets were still selling carving pumpkins and Britt managed to buy us a few so we could all have a go. We only had knives, and markers to work with, none of the fancy pumpkin carving tools I know they have in the states, so I am so proud of how they all came out.Β I may have gotten a little enthusiastic cutting mine, and I’m not entirely sure how I didn’t manage to lose a finger. The whole group seemed to really enjoy the activity.

All the pumpkins looked so cool sitting in a line in my garden. These three were my favourite! The one on the left is a ghastly pokemon, the one in the middle is the goofy one I made and then Charlotte’s is on the right. She is an artist and did the whole thing free hand, so we were all pretty darn impressed.

The next activity was a mummy race! The idea was, in teams you were supposed to wrap each other in toilet paper like a “Mummy” and then race down the street and do the same to your next group member. It all ended up a complete shambles and hand girls and boys throwing toilet paper at each other as they ran, but it was pretty darn funny to watch and everyone really enjoyed it. I think my neighbors may now thing my friends and I are completely nuts though πŸ˜›

Last, but not least we had a pinyata full of candy to destroy! Britt had organised it, and borrowed a soft bat from the school she works at, so she was the pinata master πŸ˜› She would ask a lolita related question, and whoever got it right got to have a swing at the pinata.

Everyone was bling folded and made to spin around in a circle first, so it was rather amusing to watch. Mr Tardo came down halfway through, and fluked getting a question right , so he got to have a swing at it to. He perhaps got a little over enthusiastic in doing so though – he ended up missing the pinata completely and sent the bat flying straight into my favourite wine glass and smashed it into a million pieces. He went back upstairs and hid in his room again after that πŸ˜›

Of course it wouldn’t be a party at my house without some Bella cuddles. She is such a party loving dog, and I think she ended up sitting on or being petted by every person that turned up. Of course they all loved her.

I had such a wonderful time at the party, and everyone was so helpful in helping me pack everything up before they left so there was very minimal for me to do the next day. I would gladly host another lolita party at our place. It was great fun!

And remember, if you haven’t already, please vote for me in the Kawaii International dolly contest so I can come one of their Kawaii leaders! All you have to do is click on the image below, and like my picture. Thank you! ^_^

After Missing last years even (for a reason I can’t currently remember) I was really looking forward to going to this years international Lolita day meet πŸ™‚ I decided I would wear my dream dress, because I am still completely in love with it (I made it mine when I bought it from the Berrie cute girls at AVcon this year). It is the Strawberries and ribbons print from Angelic pretty, and I have it in yellow. For the first time ever, I wore circle lenses as well! Mr Tardo said they creeped him out, but I quite liked the effect. What do you think?

International Lolita day 2014 1

The meet this year was to be high tea at a gorgeous little cafe in the city called Birdcage. Angela and Kiri from the MORIPOP! Project organised the whole thing, and they did not disappoint, the settings were just beautiful πŸ™‚

Upon arrival, we all got a glass of pink sparkling Champagne and a raffle ticket, before taking our seats at the table.

Then they started bringing out the food! Everything look just delicious, with all sorts of brightly coloured cakes and sandwiches.

International Lolita day 2014 4

As always, I had my own little plate of gluten-free snacks, which were surprisingly good, and super adorable too.

International Lolita day 2014 5

We spent the afternoon drinking tea, eating cakes and gas-bagging before we all got given special little presents depending on what number raffle ticket we had.

I got a super adorable pair of socks, that had little pink hearts all over them πŸ™‚ Then of course, the obligatory group photo!

International Lolita day 2014 7

Once we were finished with our high tea, we went for a lovely walk through the gardens at the end of Rundle street and had a sit in the sun for a while. I got to use my new Polaroid camera to take a few shots of me and the girls for my wall, and then we thought we would get another group shot with some of the girls that turned up later.

International Lolita day 2014 9

I had such a lovely day, I can’t wait until next year πŸ™‚

There is this thing the Adelaide Lolita community does about once a year that we like to call our “Magical Lolita Transformation” meet, which we held about a week ago. My first time properly dressing up in Lolita was at the meet last year (you can read about it here). It was also when I discovered my first ever dream dress and started a years worth of pining for it (you can read about the happy day I finally bought it and made it mine here!). It is a great day for girls new to the fashion to learn some tips and tricks on the ins and outs of Lolita from the veterans of the scene. As you can see, it is a pretty big day which can often mean more girls to our lovely community since they have a chance to really find out what it is all about before completely committing to it. I turned up in my daggy casual’s and “transformed” on the day as well, I didn’t want to miss out on all the fun!

After and before shots

How it usually works, is the Mods of the community page set the date, and then start recruiting girls (and boys too!) to come help out with various things. There are people who lend out dresses and accessories for the newbies to try on, people to help with hair styling/wig styling, people to help with make up, they even had a demonstration about how to put on fake lashes!

Although I am by no means a veteran, this year I helped out at the make-up station. There was a fair few of us, so I only ended up doing myself and my friend Tink. I was quite happy with the outcome! Isn’t she just the cutest?

Magical Lolita Transformation meet!

Here is the make up I did on Lil Miss Tink, to go with her beautiful co-ord from Angelic Pretty.

The girls from Berrie Cute had also set up a stall on one side of the room so hat people could browse through all their wonderful dresses and buy themselves one if they felt the need.

I had a bit of a browse myself, and found a few little treasures of my own to take home πŸ™‚ My favorite being the bear head hand bag. I think he will fit nicely into my collection. Mr Tardo has decided his name is Buster πŸ™‚

I had such a fun day, and I just cant wait to participate again when the next one comes around! Its thanks to this meet my first time that I discovered just how awesome Lolita really is, and I hope it has done the same for some of our new girls! ^_^
