A salty sweet birthday adventure at 50sixone

A salty sweet birthday adventure at 50sixone

A few weekends ago some lovely lolita friends and I headed out to the magical dessert bar that is 50sixone to celebrate the birthday of our friend Ali.

As is my usual, I went for a coordinate of pink, pink and even more pink 😛 The whole outfit was based around this one head bow you see. I had seen the head bow for diner doll (my current dream dress!) come up for sale on-line, and in the hopes that one day I might actually own the matching dress, I bought it. That silly head bow has been sitting in my wardrobe for some time now and bringing me no luck at all, so I decided that in the off-chance I never end up with the dress (*cries*) I should try to coordinate it with something. So here is what I came up with:

Coordinate run down

Shoes: Bait Footwear

Stockings: Bought from a friend

Dress: Whip Factory by Angelic Pretty

Blouse: Off brand

Cardigan: Taget

Bag: Angelic Pretty

Headbow: Dinner Doll by Angelic Pretty

The birthday girl herself was in pink too, so of course we needed to get a selfie together. Pink is the best colour after all.

Our lovely little squad for the day waiting patiently for the rest of our food to arrive.

I was always a sucker for McDonald’s chips dipped in ice cream when I was younger, so when I saw that they had chips with chocolate and ice cream on the menu I just had to have it. It was so very delicious but I only made it halfway before admitting defeat.

50sixone makes the most amazing shakes and desserts. Here you can see Corrina and Ali drooling over Corrina’s chocolate brownie milkshake, and Chelsea‘s big smile when her red velvet pancakes were almost bigger than she was!

As we were leaving the venue we found a wall that had these lovely wings painted on them and we just had to stop to get our outfit shots in front of it. From left to right, Corrina, Chelsea, Katey, me and Jess!

Poor Chelsea was too short, so we tried to give her some help to get up!

Happy Birthday Ali!

Bridal Shower: High Tea at the Intercontinental

Bridal Shower: High Tea at the Intercontinental

The grand adventure that was my bachelorette party took place about a month before the actual wedding, for rather practical reasons. I didn’t want to be at all hung over for my wedding day, or the time before hand as we were organising most of it ourselves and I had so much to do, plus on the off-chance I managed to damage myself I figured I would need time to recover. I also wanted to do something a little more tame than heavy drinking and strippers, a little closer to the wedding so that my family and friend that were flying over for the wedding could come. Thus my bridal shower was organised.

Myself, my mum and my Auntie Sharon, who had come down from the gold coast for the wedding.

Again, my delightful bestie came through and organised a lovely lunch for us all, the Thursday before the wedding at the intercontinental hotel. She had these adorable chocolates made for it, and we all had one waiting for us on our plates as we sat down, they were the perfect touch.

We were all given a glass of champagne to start off with, and then whilst we all chatted they started bringing out trays of delicious finger food.

As always, I got my own tray of yummies thanks to me being allergic to EVERYTHING. lol. All the cakes they gave me were delicious, I also had a plate of little sandwiches but in my enthusiasm to eat them, I forgot to take a photo 😛

I had a lovely turn out of twenty or so people, most of which were not able to attend my first party. We had a lovely afternoon of chatting, drinking tea and eating cakes before we all headed home and I started the mad task of packing to get everything up to the wedding venue the next day!

I think this is the last quiet moment I had until the following Monday, as things got super hectic from this point on!

This outfit came about, because I woke up one morning feeling completely miserable. It was cold and raining and I was just feeling sad. So I decided that decking myself out head to toe in chocolate was the way to go. It definitely worked, I felt much happier by the time I was done!

I decided the answer to every question that day was going to be “Chocolate”, so when it came time to decide on what to have for lunch… it was kind of a no brainer 😛

Adelaide Lolita Easter Meet – So much Chocolate!

Adelaide Lolita Easter Meet – So much Chocolate!

Easter meet 2015 3

I Know I am a tad bit late, but oh well. Better late than never right? I hope you all had a lovely Easter break 🙂

The Easter long weekend for the Adelaide lolita community means a few things, there will be chocolate, it’s going to be a big meet, there will be pastels everywhere, and most importantly, there will be bunny ears!

I was so excited for this meet, but I almost didn’t make it as I had been quite ill for the whole week before. By the time it came around, I was determined to go as I was sick of being couped up in the house, and I desperately wanted to twin my chess chocolate print with my friend Corina.

Easter meet 2015 12

I know I have worn my chess chocolate print a thousand times before, but man I love that dress. It was finally cool enough for me to wear the matching long sleeved blouse, and to even pair it with my chocolate print cardigan! It was my first time wearing the bonnet as well, and I am so pleased with how the coordinate came out.

Easter meet 2015 2

Being Easter Saturday, our original venue san churos was closed 🙁 Luckily there was another chocolate shop open on Rundle street (I forget the name), that had enough space for us all. They even had gluten free chocolate cake! I was in heaven. Angela and Kiri had organised little bags with chocolate eggs in them for all of us, and we also got a riddle to solve. The answer to each riddle was a place you could hide an Easter egg, I didn’t do so well at figuring it out though.

Easter meet 2015 5

Here is me with my lovely twin for the day Cornia! She thought it was hilarious how short I was standing next to her, so she made me stand up on the curb for our photo. She was still taller than me!

Corina and I weren’t the only ones to twin that day though. Angela and Kiri were perfectly matching (as always) in there royal melty chocolate JSK’s, with their adorable matching handmade bunny ears. Then there was Dalestair and Sophie twinning in their chocolate quartet dresses.

Easter meet 2015 11

Once we had our big group photo, we went for a wander through the mall and made our way to Miss Pixie’s closing down sale. Which is where I got my adorable bunny ears! I didn’t stay out much longer as I was still feeling a little under the weather, but I am glad I went. It was such a lovely event 🙂

High Tea at the Hilton

High Tea at the Hilton

We recently discovered that the Hilton Hotel in Adelaide has been in cahoots with Heighs chocolate putting on a delicious high tea in one of their restaurants. Naturally we had to have a meet there, because who doesn’t love chocolate or high tea? One of our lovely community members Miss Tink was kind enough to organize one for us!

Since I am saving my chess chocolate to wear on valentine’s day when I *should* have the whole set (fingers crossed!), I decided to go with a co-ord that is not something I would usually wear. I am so glad that I did, because I am so pleased with how it came out!

I have had this Emily temple cute dress sitting in my wardrobe for a little while now. It was one of my trawling Facebook at midnight impulse buys, and for ages I have been trying to decide whether I actually like it or not. Every time I have put it on I just haven’t been able to co-ordinate it right. I think it is the addition of the blonde wig that has made it work for me, as all my others are either dark colours or bright pinks. I bought it not long ago for my costume for Jarryd and Katies Meme party, but I am so pleased with how nicely it goes with this dress. And to think, I was so close to reselling it too!

The food was absolutely adorable, as expected for high tea. As usual, I had my own separate plate of gluten-free yummies, and they were all pretty good! On top of all the delicious cakes and things they brought to our table, we also had access to the tea bar. This was just great. They had little plungers and a massive collection of tea’s, so you could have what ever type you wanted and as strong as you liked (which i found fantastic since I like my tea super strong). My favourite flavour they had there was the rose and vanilla flavour, I think I had about 2 whole pots of it!

Now lets not forget to mention the chocolate bar we had free reign over as well… it was all amazingly delicious. I never thought I would ever think I’d had enough chocolate in one sitting, but man I was on sugar overload by the end of the day.

Here is all of us after we had finished, I think we were all ready for a nap!

Lolita Hilton high tea Jan 15 7

It was such a lovely high tea, that I think we are planning to go for another one sometime soon. I do wish this was the end of my post here, but unfortunately it is not. I felt like I wanted to write something, as this was the first time I found myself in the situation. After we had finished and I was heading back to my car, I had my first ever bad experience wearing Lolita.

As I was walking down the street some old guy saw me and pulled out his phone and started taking photo’s as I walked past. Nothing completely out of the ordinary there. I just sort of muttered “You could ask you know”, and started walking a bit quicker. I didn’t think too much more about it, until I turned around to see he was following me. So I walked a little bit faster. So did he. I turned around and asked him to stop taking photo’s of me, but all he did was giggle and put his phone right in my face. So I held my bag in front of my face, told him to F-off and ran. THEN SO DID HE. This guy was quite literally chasing me down the street and giggling! This went on in the middle of the day, and no one even batted an eye lid. Luckily I ran into a group of some of the other girls who had gone for a walk in the markets, and they walked me to my car. But this guy just would not take a hint. I was so pissed off. What makes people think they have the right to treat people that way?

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for having my photo taken whilst I am in Lolita. I get it, I look different and its cute and not something you see every day. If you ask to take a photo I am more than happy to oblige, I’ll stand there and pose whilst you take as many as you like. But chasing me down the street? That’s just rude. Have some damn respect people, I’m human too you know.
