We recently discovered that the Hilton Hotel in Adelaide has been in cahoots with Heighs chocolate putting on a delicious high tea in one of their restaurants. Naturally we had to have a meet there, because who doesn’t love chocolate or high tea? One of our lovely community members Miss Tink was kind enough to organize one for us!
Since I am saving my chess chocolate to wear on valentine’s day when I *should* have the whole set (fingers crossed!), I decided to go with a co-ord that is not something I would usually wear. I am so glad that I did, because I am so pleased with how it came out!
I have had this Emily temple cute dress sitting in my wardrobe for a little while now. It was one of my trawling Facebook at midnight impulse buys, and for ages I have been trying to decide whether I actually like it or not. Every time I have put it on I just haven’t been able to co-ordinate it right. I think it is the addition of the blonde wig that has made it work for me, as all my others are either dark colours or bright pinks. I bought it not long ago for my costume for Jarryd and Katies Meme party, but I am so pleased with how nicely it goes with this dress. And to think, I was so close to reselling it too!
The food was absolutely adorable, as expected for high tea. As usual, I had my own separate plate of gluten-free yummies, and they were all pretty good! On top of all the delicious cakes and things they brought to our table, we also had access to the tea bar. This was just great. They had little plungers and a massive collection of tea’s, so you could have what ever type you wanted and as strong as you liked (which i found fantastic since I like my tea super strong). My favourite flavour they had there was the rose and vanilla flavour, I think I had about 2 whole pots of it!
Now lets not forget to mention the chocolate bar we had free reign over as well… it was all amazingly delicious. I never thought I would ever think I’d had enough chocolate in one sitting, but man I was on sugar overload by the end of the day.
Here is all of us after we had finished, I think we were all ready for a nap!
It was such a lovely high tea, that I think we are planning to go for another one sometime soon. I do wish this was the end of my post here, but unfortunately it is not. I felt like I wanted to write something, as this was the first time I found myself in the situation. After we had finished and I was heading back to my car, I had my first ever bad experience wearing Lolita.
As I was walking down the street some old guy saw me and pulled out his phone and started taking photo’s as I walked past. Nothing completely out of the ordinary there. I just sort of muttered “You could ask you know”, and started walking a bit quicker. I didn’t think too much more about it, until I turned around to see he was following me. So I walked a little bit faster. So did he. I turned around and asked him to stop taking photo’s of me, but all he did was giggle and put his phone right in my face. So I held my bag in front of my face, told him to F-off and ran. THEN SO DID HE. This guy was quite literally chasing me down the street and giggling! This went on in the middle of the day, and no one even batted an eye lid. Luckily I ran into a group of some of the other girls who had gone for a walk in the markets, and they walked me to my car. But this guy just would not take a hint. I was so pissed off. What makes people think they have the right to treat people that way?
Don’t get me wrong, I am all for having my photo taken whilst I am in Lolita. I get it, I look different and its cute and not something you see every day. If you ask to take a photo I am more than happy to oblige, I’ll stand there and pose whilst you take as many as you like. But chasing me down the street? That’s just rude. Have some damn respect people, I’m human too you know.
