Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Who Is The Greatest Kawaii Lady Of Them All?

Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Who Is The Greatest Kawaii Lady Of Them All?

So I totally entered a kawaii make up competition for a lovely brand called Lady Kawaii. This is a thing I did over a week and a half ago. I am so totally late to the party on this one, as I kept completely forgetting to write about it. So here I am, the day before the competition ends, saying hey! Check out this thing I did! And if you like it, do you think you could spare a vote for me?

I would love to win this competition, not just for the super sweet prizes (Lady Kawaii’s logo T-shirt with my name on it, plus a whole lot of Lady Kawaii’s products), but also because I think Lady Kawaii is a super cute company, and I would love to be involved with the and an ambassador.

It was almost like it was meant to be because a few days before I heard about the competition I had my Jeffree star order arrive! I ordered the Beauty Killer Palette as well as “Virginity”. Lets all just take a moment to appreciate how pretty it all is <3

The Make Up

I had been itching for a reason to go all out with my new colours, and this was the opportunity I was looking for! I decided to go for a pinkie purple look, because well, lets face it, they are pretty much my go to colours for everything lol. To begin with, I did my brows just a light brown, then covered my lower lid with “Princess” and my upper lid with “China White”. I then filled my outer crease line with “Violence” and then blended, then blended some more with a lovely fluffy brush. I have a gorgeous purple shimmer loose eye shadow that I picked up in Vegas a few years ago that I then dusted over the whole lot. Of course, black winged eye liner is a must for me every time (I just really love it 😛 ) so I went and added that next with a black oil base liner and an eyeliner brush. The finishing touch was a set of lashes from Model Co. You can see the close up of my eyes in the picture below.

To get my cheeks such a lovely pink colour, I used a light pink highlighter along with a dark pink blush. My face is naturally always rosy red thanks to my Rosacea, so I enjoy being able to control the colour and contrast when I do my make up. For my lips, of course I just HAD to use Virginity. It is such a pretty colour and goes on so smooth. And OMG, it smells so DIVINE, I could almost eat it.Whilst it was still wet I got some loose dark pink glitter and pressed it onto my lips to give it a more textured look. And sparkly. We can'[t forget sparkly, because who doesn’t love glitter?

The Hair

Since I did this way before Vanessa at The Cutting Concept fixed the disaster that was my not-quite-so-black-anymore hair, I opted to put on my favourite pink wig and do a little bit of an up-do with some cute pig tails 🙂 I love the colour of this wig so much, that I hope to one day get my natural hair dyed to this colour. But we will see, I still remember what happened last time I went pink :S But hey, a girl can dream

The Outfit

Of course no photo shoot would be complete without a full matching outfit, so I put one together that I thought would match the style I was going for. It was a miss match of colour, and a little bit preppy, but still cute.

Outfit run down:

Wig: Long and light pink, with bangs. It also has a lot of white strands through it, so the ends look even more light and pastel

Top: This top is actually a dress! (although, a very short one 😛 ) I purchased this off an Etsy designer a few years ago because I just adored the print, and i thought the little chiffon ruffled sleeves were just too cute to pas sup.

Skirt:The skirt is just a plain white pleated skirt, which I believe I bought off Ali express. You will see me wearing it a lot, as I love it so much it is one of my regular go too pieces for cute outfits.

Socks: are a baby pink colour, with a cute fat lace around the top, and a little love heart sewn on with a bow on either side.

Shoes: My shoes I bought in some little store in Tokyo several years back, and are the most adorable shade of pink!

Accessories: For my accessories, in my hair you will find a big white bow and a small purple bow on either side. Around my neck is my favourite necklace at the moment, which has a pink rhinestone covered heart hanging from a string of pink pearls. All of which were purchased at Lovisa (In the kids section, lol!).

Party time at Neko Nation Adelaide January 2016

Party time at Neko Nation Adelaide January 2016

Neko-Nation-Jan-2016

Neko Nation Adelaide has now come and gone again, and it was a blast! This was my 3rd time attending, and I feel like I was nowhere near as prepared for it as I was the previous two. I’d been feeling sick all day, and had to spend most of my day napping just so I had enough energy to go that night! I ended up playing designated driver for the night which worked out quite well for me anyway as I was able to give a friend a ride in to the event.

I was completely un organised when it came to my outfit this time around, but I managed to throw something together at the last-minute. You can check out my outfit post here. I think considering how last-minute my outfit plans were, it all came together rather well. I did have a minor wardrobe malfunction thought, as the zipper to my skirt decided to die just as I was walking out the door. I ended up having to safety-pin myself into it 😛 The high heels didn’t last long either, as you can see in the photo’s that follow.

My car buddy Colin said he also had a wardrobe malfunction, in that he was going to wear a onsie, but then Adelaide decided to turn into a sauna and he was too hot. I’m kinda glad he changed his mind though, his pink maids outfit was super adorable.

We found the cat girls with sushi doing their rounds not too soon after we got there. Thanks to all my stupid allergy issues I couldn’t have any, but it all looked so yummy, and there was heaps of it about. I didn’t see any of the sushi cat girls last Neko Nation, but then again Corrina and I did disappear off earlier in the night to get some decent cocktails else where, so we must have missed them.

I had a blast dancing downstairs to Sammi’s super kawaii pop DJ set, which was an awesome mix of J-pop, Anime and cheezy 90’s music. We did the Macareana, it was amazing! Not only is Sammi a brilliant DJ, but she is also fellow Trashdoll and just one of the cutest girls you could ever lay eyes on too.

The DJ’s in the top room I found to be pretty awesome as well, I really enjoyed the sets I was up there for. This was something a bit different for me, as usually that type of music is not quite my style. It would seem that drunk Sarah and Sober Sarah have different tastes in music! 😛

 Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 4

I actually spent a fair bit of time upstairs this time around, dancing like crazy with these lovely people and chatting out on the balcony when it got too hot.

Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 6

As a whole, I thought that the whole event was organised fantastically. I only have one gripe about it. I absolutely loved the crown and scepter as a venue for the last one, but this time around I found that it wasn’t great. My main reasoning for that was that last time Neko Nation was in June, which means the weather was considerably cooler. With people dancing up a storm, the inside fans were just fine as you could escape into the cool outside area’s to get some air when you got to hot inside.

Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 3

Since this one was held in January, which is pretty much the middle and hottest part of our summer for my readers not from Aus, the lack of air conditioning in the venue was considerably more noticeable this time around. It had been a super hot day, and hadn’t cooled down much more by the time it got dark, so the whole place was like a stinky sweaty furnace on the inside. There was no escape from it either, as it was just as hot on the outside of the venue!Neko Nation adelaide 9 Jan 2016 1

Air conditioning issues aside, Neko Nation, as always, was a wicked fun night. There were far more people there that I knew this time around and I really enjoyed wandering around, chatting with them and making new friends.

New friends, such as Mark from Maetogrophy who took this adorable photo of myself and Chelsea (better known as Pocket Sized Vampire Panda) and the photo above of Sammi DJing. Awesome photo’s man, thanks for taking them!sig-tag

Gosh, considering I have been on holidays for so long, I was sooo unorganized for Neko Nation! (Post on the event to follow!) I think it was just because I had been feeling so sick for the few days leading up to it, that I hadn’t bothered to specifically plan for it.

Lucky for me, I have a ridiculously stuffed wardrobe and was able to pull something super kawaii together for the night!

Make Up

I was going for a bit of a magical girl look with this outfit, so I kept my whole eye area quite light with a white shimmer. Then on the lids I added a light pink and darkened it as I reached the edge of my eye. Then I covered both my lid and the area under my eye in fine silver glitter.

For eye liner, I lined the whole top of my eye finishing for a wing, and then continued under my ey until about half way. I hate wearing lower false lashes, so actually painted extra lashes on underneath with the eye liner. I then finished the whole look off by adding some super long curly lashes, and penciling in my eyebrows with a light brown colour to try match the wig a little.

As always, I went with hot pink lipstick, or the matte Lime Crime variety 😉

A year of Lolita: My Coordinates for 2015

A year of Lolita: My Coordinates for 2015

2015-lolita-coordinates

Our community had an online event, asking us all to share a collection of our different coordinates from throughout the year. I didn’t realize, but I have worn Lolita soooooo much this year, more than double the amount I wore it last year! Here is the collage I made, and this isn’t even all our meets, as I was trying to not double up on print’s too much in this photo.

2015 lolita coordinates

Looking back on my photo’s, I definitely have a few clear favorites. On the top of that list, surprisingly would seem to be my Cotton Candy Shop special set JSK from Angelic Pretty. I wore it so much last year, I just love all the colours on it!

Kawaii international kawaii dolly contest miss venusfury of oh so kawaii 1

Coming a close second I would have to say would be my Milky Planet JSK from Angelic Pretty. I was so excited to get my hands on the entire set in one hit, I just wore it to death. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want to walk around with and upside-down ice cream cone on their head?

Oz ComicCon 15 16

Last but not least, coming in third place would be my Chess Chocolate low waisted JSK from Angelic Pretty (yeah I’m a massive AP fan…). This was one of my most worn dresses last year as well, I just love how it sits on me ^_^

Chess Chocolate JSK Angelic Pretty

SOme of my other observations from this years coordinates is that after I dyed my hair black/purple, I stopped wearing wigs a lot. I still wore my blonde/pink/purple one a fair bit when I wanted to be blonde, but for the most part I used my natural hair!

I have acquired a few more dresses recently during the end of the year (Fancy paper Dolls and Crystal Dream Carnival!), so I will be interested to see what my most worn pieces will be this year!

So tell me, which of my coordinates from last year is your favorite?

Outfit of the day: Kawaii Ice cream Girl

ouitfit of the day kawaii-ice-cream-girl

It has been so super hot in Adelaide lately, that my outfits have needed to cover less and less. It doesn’t seem to matter how hot it is though, I always feel weird without a cardigan or something to cover my shoulders.

kawaii Ice cream girl 6

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I work in a very air conditioned building, and although it may be stupid hot outside, sometimes it can feel like a freezer inside. Plus, I burn in the sun super easy so it’s always nice to be a little bit covered.

Outfit Break down:

Shoes: White neon glowing shoes from KoKo Pie, with added lightning bolts to make me move faster 😛

Socks: Ruby Shoes

Shorts: Bought second-hand from Irving Baby

Belt: White with gold buckle, from Valley Girl

Top: White melty top handmade by me

Cardigan: Angelic Pretty

Necklace: Bought from Equip! (in the kids section!)

Hair and make up

Being such a hot day, I decided to have my hair up. There is no cuter way in my mind that to little pig tail buns with a bow on either side!

My make up is done in my usual fashion, with a simple black winged eye liner and mascara. Finished of with my favorite hot pink line crime lipstick.

Kawaii photo shoot with Snap It Studio’s

Kawaii photo shoot with Snap It Studio’s

kawaii-photoshoot

When it comes to photo shoots, for a while now I have just been doing whatever theme has been going at the time. This has led me to do heaps of shoots in the pin-up/vintage/rockabilly kind of style, as well as a few dress up themes. These have been great, don’t get me wrong, but I have been dying to do a shoot that was a bit more my style for a while now.

Snap it studio's shoot 1

Enter the wonderful Jo from Snap it Studio’s, a fantastic photographer and long time bestie of mine. She agreed to come and take some kawaii shots of me, and I have to admit that when the day finally rolled around I was so freaking excited!

Snap it studio's shoot 2

It was a beautiful day, so we decided to head out to the Himeji Gardens in the city. The gardens themselves were a gift from Adelaide’s sister city Himeji in Japan, and consist of some of the most beautiful plants and rock gardens.

I ended up doing three outfit changes, and the two of us got a little bit giggly and silly. My first outfit was a cute Alice in wonderland JSK from body line. This shot was amusing to take, as I had to climb through the garden to get to the rock I am sitting on, and because of my big shoes I managed to trip and almost fall into the river. Thankfully I didn’t, but had to sit and wait for Jo to compose herself as she spent a while laughing so hard she could hardly hold up her camera 😛

Kawaii shoot 1Kawaii shoot 3

That sort of set the mood for the rest of the day, as the next outfit saw me scaling a tree in a mini skirt and heels to get this next shot, which is also one of my favorites.

Kawaii shoot 5

Deciding against jumping down from the tree in those shoes (It was quite high 😛 ) I ended up taking them off and throwing them down to Jo before climbing down. This next shot was actually taken whilst I was sitting on a table putting them back on again.

Kawaii shoot 7

Our next shot saw me climbing in the garden again, and produced these to fantastic shots. I am completely in love with the one below, it is so kawaii and I think it looks like I should be sitting in among a heap of fairies!

Kawaii shoot 8Kawaii shoot 9

This is only a few of the great photo’s Jo captured of me on the day, if you would like to see the rest of the photo set, head over to my portfolio page Miss Venus Fury and check out the alternative section 🙂

If you are interested in seeing some more of Jo’s fantastic work, you can go give them a like on their Facebook page here, or check out their website here.

Friend or not, Jo is one of the most talented photographers I have had the pleasure of working with to date, and her work just speak for itself. Jo is available for any kind of shoot you can think up, can arrange a hair and make up artist at a very good price and is also able to travel. I would highly recommend her.
