High tea on a Monday because we BAMF

High tea on a Monday because we BAMF

What? high tea on a Monday?! how bizarre! I know right? but hey, my friends and I are all students/shift workers so Monday happens to be a rather good day to catch up for most of us. I was in such a rush that morning (I finish work at 8am Monday mornings) I was super surprised at how well I pulled this coordinate together. I was still running around in a state of undress when my friends started arriving so we could leave together.

Coordinate details

Shoes: Bait Footwear

Stockings: bought from a friend

Dress: Fancy Paper Dolls by Angelic Pretty

Blouse: TaoBao

Cardigan: Target

Bag: Angelic Pretty

Belt: Ebay

Head Bow: Angelic Pretty

I was so pleased with how my hair came out, especially since I came up with the style entirely by accident. I was going to put my hair in twin buns, but I got distracted halfway through putting them up (the doorbell rang!) and thought it looked really cute with some hair hanging down, so i just left it like that. Yay for accidental cute hairstyles!

As stated before, we headed to Pressed Tin Cafe in the city. Corrina had managed to get us a big groupon deal so it ended up being only about 15 per head for the high tea. Not to bad if you ask me, and the best part is – they did gluten-free. Even better, their gluten-free stuff was actually good. For savoury I got sandwiches, sausage roll and some curry puffs. For dessert a little plate containing Chocolate brownie, passion fruit cheesecake and 2 tiny orange cupcakes. My only complaint is that they didn’t have any GF scones. I love scones!

Chelsea was pretty happy with the food offering for the non gluten intolerant.

Pressed Tin isn’t just a cafe, it also happens to be a rather lovely furniture store as well. They have so many lovely things its always fun to walk through and take a thousand photos. I found this couch during our wonder and my gosh I wish I had space in my house so I could take it home. It was just the perfect shade of pink and so comfy too. I think we were made for each other. Maybe one day it will be mine.

Me with my lovely friends Ashleigh and Chelsea. Aren’t they cuties?

Corrina and I fell in love with the derpy look on this little pugs face, we just had to pose with it!

For a Monday, That was a pretty good day!

A salty sweet birthday adventure at 50sixone

A salty sweet birthday adventure at 50sixone

A few weekends ago some lovely lolita friends and I headed out to the magical dessert bar that is 50sixone to celebrate the birthday of our friend Ali.

As is my usual, I went for a coordinate of pink, pink and even more pink 😛 The whole outfit was based around this one head bow you see. I had seen the head bow for diner doll (my current dream dress!) come up for sale on-line, and in the hopes that one day I might actually own the matching dress, I bought it. That silly head bow has been sitting in my wardrobe for some time now and bringing me no luck at all, so I decided that in the off-chance I never end up with the dress (*cries*) I should try to coordinate it with something. So here is what I came up with:

Coordinate run down

Shoes: Bait Footwear

Stockings: Bought from a friend

Dress: Whip Factory by Angelic Pretty

Blouse: Off brand

Cardigan: Taget

Bag: Angelic Pretty

Headbow: Dinner Doll by Angelic Pretty

The birthday girl herself was in pink too, so of course we needed to get a selfie together. Pink is the best colour after all.

Our lovely little squad for the day waiting patiently for the rest of our food to arrive.

I was always a sucker for McDonald’s chips dipped in ice cream when I was younger, so when I saw that they had chips with chocolate and ice cream on the menu I just had to have it. It was so very delicious but I only made it halfway before admitting defeat.

50sixone makes the most amazing shakes and desserts. Here you can see Corrina and Ali drooling over Corrina’s chocolate brownie milkshake, and Chelsea‘s big smile when her red velvet pancakes were almost bigger than she was!

As we were leaving the venue we found a wall that had these lovely wings painted on them and we just had to stop to get our outfit shots in front of it. From left to right, Corrina, Chelsea, Katey, me and Jess!

Poor Chelsea was too short, so we tried to give her some help to get up!

Happy Birthday Ali!

My lordy have I ever been slack with this blog. There is so much catching up to be done! Believe it or not, I wrote this post for Chelsea’s birthday… last year 😛 and then I forgot to ever post it! How terrible of me. And now here we are a year later, and its her birthday again! Well, I suppose better late than never right? Happy Birthday Chelsea!

Back in October the delightful Pocket Sized Vampire Pandah (Chelsea!) turned 21! For her party she organised for a group of us to go out to Just Tickled Pink for High Tea! I have been there before as you may remember from a few of my previous posts, we went for Corina’s birthday last year and for our lolita Comm Valentines day meet this year. You all know how I feel about the colour pink, so I was happy to be going back there again, plus the food is always so yummy!

I had purchased Angelic Pretty’s Whip Factory Salopette on one of the sales Comms a week prior, and was super excited when it arrived in the mail just in time for me to wear it to the party. As you can see it was just perfect for the party since not only is it pink (as most of my clothing items are) but it is also covered in adorable cakes! Taking one look at it you can see why I had to add it to my collection, pink and adorable food? I’m in!

When I first tried the whip factory on, I was surprised at how large it was around the waist. It is the first Salopette I have ever bought and worn and was concerned it wasn’t going to fit me. Thankfully with the addition of a lovely pink belt I had in my wardrobe I managed to get it to sit perfectly around my waist!

It was quite a warm day so I was reluctant to wear a wig or anything on my head. I decided to opt for something a little simple, and used my own hair with some clip in extensions to make a cute pony tail. I put two pin curls into my fringe, then finished it off with two small bow clips.

For my make up I opted for pink shaded eye shadow from my Too Faced bon bons palate, winged liner and some false lashes. Pink blush cheecks, and Jeffree Stars Doll Parts on my lips

As always, the birthday girl looked adorable in her Angelic Pretty x Disney little mermaid print dress and Jacket.

I was running a little bit late on the day, so when I walked in I was handed a non alcoholic sparkling drink, and this lovely plate of goodies was waiting for me when I sat down. As always, I went for the gluten free option which, in this instance, meant I got my own plate of treats. I think my favourite was the apple and pistachio loaf you can see on the back of the plate It was so moist and sweet, which by the look of it was quite unexpected.

As is our usual, we took a group shot of all the lolita’s together out the front of the venue. We were all in sweet, and everyone looked adorable.

Happy Birthday Chelsea! I hope you had a lovely!

Just Tickled Pink is quickly becoming one of my favourite places to go for high tea because of how delicious their allergy friendly food is. Do you have a favourite place for high tea? What makes it your favourite?

Annual Lolita Chocolate Meet | Angelic Pretty's Chess Chocolate Coordinate

The annual chocolate meet for the Adelaide lolita community is always a big one. It is usually held around Easter, and everybody puts on their favourite chocolate prints, we meet up some where and you guessed it – eat a lot of chocolate. This year was no different. The time and date was set, and we went and took over the top floor of Koko Black for the afternoon.

As some of you who have been reading my blog for a little while might have guessed, when it comes to anything chocolate related my go to print is Chess Chocolate by Angelic pretty. It was the first brand dress I ever owned, and the first print I managed to collect the entire set for (I have everything – blouse, bonnet, bow, socks). To this day it is still one of my favourite dresses, so of course I had to wear it out. I decided I would wear the head bow this time, as I wore the same outfit to last years Chocolate meet only with the bonnet. (hey, its a good coordinate, and I say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!)

The group sat down and ordered together, and everyone blended in with their surroundings perfectly 😛 There were so many delicious looking sweet things that people ordered, but I went for this glorious looking cake.

I can never move past anything that is salted caramel flavour, and today was no different. This was a salted caramel mouse with a flourless chocolate cake in the middle. It had a piece of toffee leaning on the side of it, and when they brought it to the table the waitress poured hot caramel sauce down it, like a slide. I was in heaven, and yes it tasted as good at is looked.

All hyped up on sugar, we all left the cafe. It was a busy Saturday so we were stopped by a lot of people for photographs. We eventually got sick of it and disappeared up to the top floor of regency arcade to escape. We were all being a little bit silly, and I got a great bunch of photo’s of “Lolita’s behaving badly” lol.

Annual Lolita Chocolate Meet | Angelic Pretty's Chess Chocolate Coordinate

As when we made it to the end of the arcade there was a lovely lady coming out of the haigh’s chocolate store room who was kind enough to take a group photograph of us all – our timing could not have been better. I think this photo looks like we just stepped out of the chocolate factory. Don’t we all just look delicious?!

Do you have a favourite “go to” dress for certain occasions? and if so, what is it? Let me know in the comments!

I am so far behind on my blogging, that this meet was all the way back in February for Valentines day! I almost wasn’t going to post about it, but I got such lovely photos of the group, and I was so proud of my hat that I thought I would just do it anyway.

So for Valentines day this year the Adelaide Lolita Community held a fancy hat meet. The premise was just that, put together a coordinate and wear an OTT hat to go with it. I had just obtained Angelic Pretty’s Toy Fantasy in white and way super excited to wear it. This is the first print I have ever owned more than one copy of (I have the skirt in sax) as I just adore the print.

In making my hat I decided to stick with the toy theme. I had a cute pink top hat I had purchased around Easter the year before, which I covered with different toys and cute things with a glue gun.

When we arrived they handed us all a champagne glass of sparkling fruit juice (I later discovered that this is because they do not have a liquor licence) as we sat down. They then started bringing out share plates of food and big pots of tea.

All of the food was amazingly decedent, they had everything – scones, various sandwiches and cupcakes to die for.

As always I got my own plate of gluten free treats which were quite delicious, although I was a little disappointed to find there wasn’t any GF scones.

There was a a prize for best hat, the winner of which was chosen by the staff at the cafe. Tamara Took out the prize for best hat with her gorgeous rose tiara.

Lolita Twinning Meet | Pink + Lavender Cotton Candy Shop Print By Angelic Pretty

I think one of my favourite things about Lolita is that it is perfectly acceptable for two people to be wearing identical outfits – it is even encouraged! To that ends, the Adelaide Lolita community hosted its yearly “Twinning” meet a few weeks ago. You are all probably quite aware about my feeling about Angelic Pretty’s Cotton Candy Shop print by now, so I was so pleased when Katie said she would be my twin for the day!

Sarah and Katie – Angelic Pretty’s Cotton Candy Shop

Adelaide Lolita community | twinning meet + Angelic Pretty Cotton Candy Shop

We went all out on the “twinning” part and matched almost everything. We even went so far as to do our make up the same!

Outfit rundown:

JSK: Cotton Candy Shop by Angelic Pretty, myself in pink and Katie in lavender.

Matching special set pieces: Socks, bags and headbow

Shoes: Gold heels from bodyline

Accessories: Heart necklaces and bracelets from louvisa

Wig: Blonde, pink and purple

We all met up and had a lovely lunch at My Kingdom for a Horse! which is a little hipster cafe just on the outer ring of the city. I was really impressed with all of their food as they had many super Sarah friendly options (Eg they catered to people who are intolerant to everything). I went for my usual, eggs Benedict and got a side of halumi, it was the greatest thing ever. I am ashamed to admit though, that I was having such a lovely time chatting and eating delicious food that I never actually got around to taking any photo’s in the cafe! Oops!

Once we were done eating we all decided to go for a bit of a walk to the local park to take some photos. As is my usual, I couldn’t help but snap a few selfies with my favourites <3

Corrina and Enken – Angelic Pretty’s Sugary  Carnival

We had such an awesome array of different styles and amazing twins I just had to share a few of my favourite outfits. First up, is Corrina and Enken! Enken actually had my sugary carnival dress on load specifically for this meet, which I was so excited about as she is not usually one to wear “sweet” Lolita. Don’t they both just look so darling? I think the cute little pig tail buns are what set it off for me. Sooooooo cuuuuttteeee!

Colin and Birtt – Metamorphosis Happy Balloon

Colin and Britt were one of my favourite pairs of the day wearing Metamorphosis’s Happy Balloon print! They even went all out and got themselves some matching helium balloons to match their dresses. I love how they are twinning, but both still put their own personal flair into the mix with different wigs, shoes and accessories.

Sophie and Finn – Fan Plus Friend

Sophie and Finn are one of my favourite Lolita couples, as they are almost always matching each other. For this meet, they both wore Fan Plus Friend outfits in different colours. I love that they are both even doing the same pose! kawaiiiiii! ^_^

Next we broke up into groups of “Gothic” and “Sweet” for more photographs! This is our gothic (ish) group below, they all looks so darling <3

As always with our comm, the sweet group was pretty huge and was a mess of adorable pastel poofy perfection 😛 and a lot of pink. I approve!

And of course, not meet would be complete without the obligatory whole group photograph!

Once we were done with photographs, we went for a wander through town and ended up getting ice cream and coffee at Cibo, and gossiping some more. By the end of the day I was so full of food I felt like I wouldn’t need to eat for a week!

What was your favourite pair from the day? Do you prefer sweet or Gothic coordinates?

This outfit wasn’t for anything in particular, although I think I re did it to wear to work at some point I loved it that much. A year of Lolita: My Coordinates for 2015

A year of Lolita: My Coordinates for 2015

2015-lolita-coordinates

Our community had an online event, asking us all to share a collection of our different coordinates from throughout the year. I didn’t realize, but I have worn Lolita soooooo much this year, more than double the amount I wore it last year! Here is the collage I made, and this isn’t even all our meets, as I was trying to not double up on print’s too much in this photo.

2015 lolita coordinates

Looking back on my photo’s, I definitely have a few clear favorites. On the top of that list, surprisingly would seem to be my Cotton Candy Shop special set JSK from Angelic Pretty. I wore it so much last year, I just love all the colours on it!

Kawaii international kawaii dolly contest miss venusfury of oh so kawaii 1

Coming a close second I would have to say would be my Milky Planet JSK from Angelic Pretty. I was so excited to get my hands on the entire set in one hit, I just wore it to death. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want to walk around with and upside-down ice cream cone on their head?

Oz ComicCon 15 16

Last but not least, coming in third place would be my Chess Chocolate low waisted JSK from Angelic Pretty (yeah I’m a massive AP fan…). This was one of my most worn dresses last year as well, I just love how it sits on me ^_^

Chess Chocolate JSK Angelic Pretty

SOme of my other observations from this years coordinates is that after I dyed my hair black/purple, I stopped wearing wigs a lot. I still wore my blonde/pink/purple one a fair bit when I wanted to be blonde, but for the most part I used my natural hair!

I have acquired a few more dresses recently during the end of the year (Fancy paper Dolls and Crystal Dream Carnival!), so I will be interested to see what my most worn pieces will be this year!

So tell me, which of my coordinates from last year is your favorite?

Oz Asia Festival 2015

Oz Asia Festival 2015

oz-asia-festival-2015

I have never been to the Oz Asia Festival before, so when the Adelaide lolita community was invited to put on a parade, I was quite keen to be a part of it. We were supposed to be doing a parade on both the Saturday and Sunday, but I only Attended the Saturday.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 1

I wore my Cotton Candy Shop JSK, as dispite my initial reaction to it when I received it, it has fast become one of my favourite prints. It was a ridiculously hot day so instead of the matching OTK’s, I decided to go with some cute little ankle socks lest I die of heat exhaustion. Of course I brought along my lovely pink parasol, which was originally supposed to just be for show for the sake of the parade, but I actually ended up getting quite a lot of use out of it to keep the sun off.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 3 Oz Asia Festival 2015 4

The Oz Asia festival had set up this lovely Japanese inspired stage which they used to put on shows of different things relating to Japanese culture throughout the day. They had a few different drumming and martial arts presentations before they had our little lolita parade.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 5

Everyone looked so beautiful all dolled up for the parade.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 11

Once it was all done, we wandered around and had a look through all the different places. They had a “Passport” you could get stamped when you went into each different country’s area.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 7 Oz Asia Festival 2015 9

When we went to China, I found this place that sold these weird “J” shaped code things that got filled with ice cream, that happened to be gluten free! I just had to try one. One of my friends mentioned that the end of it looked like a butt hole, so we spent the rest of the day giggling about it.

Oz Asia Festival 2015 8

It was pretty darn tasty though, and being so hot it was nice to have some thing to cool me down.

I really hope we get asked back again next year a I had such a great time!

PAX Aus 2015

PAX Aus 2015

PAX-AUS-2015

I can’t believe it has taken me so long to get to this since PAX Aus was in the beginning of November last year! But hey, like I always say, better late than never right? 😛 So here is how it all went down…

Day One

PAX 2015 1

I was so excited to wear this coordinate for the first day of PAX! Mostly, because I had just got my fancy paper dolls set in the mail a few days before we left, and I hadn’t had a chance to wear it yet. It was a dream dress get, so I was super pleased it arrived in time!

PAX 2015 6

We spent most of the first day walking around the main room just looking at all the stuff. They had this cool super Mario brothers set up, I just had to get a photo in the pipe! There were so many huge stalls and big name games in the main hall that Mr Tardo and I were like kids in a candy store 😛 We spent most of the first day just wandering around looking at stuff.

PAX 2015 5

We did however go to one panel. It was game of D&D, with Audience participation.  It only went or about an hour, but I was in stitches the whole time. I was hilarious!  They had us live tweeting idea’s for each character using the #liveRPGplus has tag, here was some of my input:

liveRPGPlus tweets

To check out the rest of the tweets, click here.

PAX 2015 4PAX 2015 3

I also found a place nearby that made truly amazing caramel macaroons. I was naughty and went back and got one every day, and by the end of the holiday one of the guys working there recognized me and gave me a second one for free ^_^ yay Macaroons!

I managed to snap the strap on the shoes I was wearing halfway through the day, so I headed back to the hotel for an outfit change. Which then turned into playing with my newly purchased head set, and having a nap 😛

PAX 2015 7

Day Two

Day two I was in such a rush to get out the door (Mr Tardo was adamant he wanted to get there early), that I completely forgot to take an outfit shot! This is the only selfie I managed to get when I remembered later on in the day 😛 I wore my adorable blue toy parade mini skirt, my tea party blouse and a pink cardigan.

PAX 2015 21

Since we were up early, Mr Tardo and I, and a few of the friends we were sharing our apartment with went out for breakfast 🙂

PAX 2015 8 PAX 2015 9

Most of the second day for me was spent playing board games, and running around collecting QR codes. I managed to find them all last year, but alas I missed 2 of them this year.

PAX 2015 12

Zombiecide was one of my favourite games of the day. I had heard so much about it, and it did not disappoint!

Day Three

For the last day I decided to go all out on the coordinate, so OTT sweet with my pink Milky Planet was what i decided to wear. I have the matching everything for my milky planet set, including the super adorable upside down ice cream headband ^_^

PAX 2015 14

The sunday was a big day for cosplay, but strangely enough I didn’t take all that many photos. Our two friend Tom and Katey went as waring DOTA characters, just because they thought it would be cute to walk around holding hands dressed as them. I am so sorry, but I cannot actually remember the characters names! There was also this hilarious  “Floreda” cosplay from the Simpsons that I just had to get a photo of it was so great.

PAX 2015 10PAX 2015 11

The only panel we made it to on the last day was “The worst games ever created” panel. They were all x-box games, and included titles such as duke nuke’m and star trek the game. Pimp my ride kinda won as the worst game ever though. It was pretty funny watching the guest panelists play them though.

PAX 2015 13

On the last day I finally ran into some other Lolita’s, who all looked just stunning and were lovely to chat with. Charlotte in the middle is actually from the Adelaide Comm 🙂

PAX 2015 15

After lunch Katy and I decided to ditch the boys and go try out the “Paint n Take”.

PAX 2015 16

I picked what looked like some sort of sorcerer, and of course painted her all in pin and purple. Katy went for more of a warrior, but he had to be pink also 😛

PAX 2015 17 PAX 2015 18 PAX 2015 19

Then of course we ended the day off with some more board games. I forget the name of this one, although it was quite similar to Incan Gold, was super fun and the art work was so pretty.

PAX 2015 20

Just as they were starting to kick us out, I got talking into buying a little card game called “F**k, the game” which is a little card game that uses colours and swear words to help train your brain. I am so glad I bought it, it’s so funny to play, especially with drunk people.

And that was PAX Australia for 2015! Mr Tardo and I have already got our tickets for next year, as it is becoming a rather un missable event for us! 🙂
