So I totally entered a kawaii make up competition for a lovely brand called Lady Kawaii. This is a thing I did over a week and a half ago. I am so totally late to the party on this one, as I kept completely forgetting to write about it. So here I am, the day before the competition ends, saying hey! Check out this thing I did! And if you like it, do you think you could spare a vote for me?

I would love to win this competition, not just for the super sweet prizes (Lady Kawaii’s logo T-shirt with my name on it, plus a whole lot of Lady Kawaii’s products), but also because I think Lady Kawaii is a super cute company, and I would love to be involved with the and an ambassador.

It was almost like it was meant to be because a few days before I heard about the competition I had my Jeffree star order arrive! I ordered the Beauty Killer Palette as well as “Virginity”. Lets all just take a moment to appreciate how pretty it all is <3

The Make Up

I had been itching for a reason to go all out with my new colours, and this was the opportunity I was looking for! I decided to go for a pinkie purple look, because well, lets face it, they are pretty much my go to colours for everything lol. To begin with, I did my brows just a light brown, then covered my lower lid with “Princess” and my upper lid with “China White”. I then filled my outer crease line with “Violence” and then blended, then blended some more with a lovely fluffy brush. I have a gorgeous purple shimmer loose eye shadow that I picked up in Vegas a few years ago that I then dusted over the whole lot. Of course, black winged eye liner is a must for me every time (I just really love it 😛 ) so I went and added that next with a black oil base liner and an eyeliner brush. The finishing touch was a set of lashes from Model Co. You can see the close up of my eyes in the picture below.

To get my cheeks such a lovely pink colour, I used a light pink highlighter along with a dark pink blush. My face is naturally always rosy red thanks to my Rosacea, so I enjoy being able to control the colour and contrast when I do my make up. For my lips, of course I just HAD to use Virginity. It is such a pretty colour and goes on so smooth. And OMG, it smells so DIVINE, I could almost eat it.Whilst it was still wet I got some loose dark pink glitter and pressed it onto my lips to give it a more textured look. And sparkly. We can'[t forget sparkly, because who doesn’t love glitter?

The Hair

Since I did this way before Vanessa at The Cutting Concept fixed the disaster that was my not-quite-so-black-anymore hair, I opted to put on my favourite pink wig and do a little bit of an up-do with some cute pig tails 🙂 I love the colour of this wig so much, that I hope to one day get my natural hair dyed to this colour. But we will see, I still remember what happened last time I went pink :S But hey, a girl can dream

The Outfit

Of course no photo shoot would be complete without a full matching outfit, so I put one together that I thought would match the style I was going for. It was a miss match of colour, and a little bit preppy, but still cute.

Outfit run down:

Wig: Long and light pink, with bangs. It also has a lot of white strands through it, so the ends look even more light and pastel

Top: This top is actually a dress! (although, a very short one 😛 ) I purchased this off an Etsy designer a few years ago because I just adored the print, and i thought the little chiffon ruffled sleeves were just too cute to pas sup.

Skirt:The skirt is just a plain white pleated skirt, which I believe I bought off Ali express. You will see me wearing it a lot, as I love it so much it is one of my regular go too pieces for cute outfits.

Socks: are a baby pink colour, with a cute fat lace around the top, and a little love heart sewn on with a bow on either side.

Shoes: My shoes I bought in some little store in Tokyo several years back, and are the most adorable shade of pink!

Accessories: For my accessories, in my hair you will find a big white bow and a small purple bow on either side. Around my neck is my favourite necklace at the moment, which has a pink rhinestone covered heart hanging from a string of pink pearls. All of which were purchased at Lovisa (In the kids section, lol!).

ootd-neko-nation

Gosh, considering I have been on holidays for so long, I was sooo unorganized for Neko Nation! (Post on the event to follow!) I think it was just because I had been feeling so sick for the few days leading up to it, that I hadn’t bothered to specifically plan for it.

Make Up

I was going for a bit of a magical girl look with this outfit, so I kept my whole eye area quite light with a white shimmer. Then on the lids I added a light pink and darkened it as I reached the edge of my eye. Then I covered both my lid and the area under my eye in fine silver glitter.

For eye liner, I lined the whole top of my eye finishing for a wing, and then continued under my ey until about half way. I hate wearing lower false lashes, so actually painted extra lashes on underneath with the eye liner. I then finished the whole look off by adding some super long curly lashes, and penciling in my eyebrows with a light brown colour to try match the wig a little.

As always, I went with hot pink lipstick, or the matte Lime Crime variety 😉

ouitfit of the day kawaii-ice-cream-girl

It has been so super hot in Adelaide lately, that my outfits have needed to cover less and less. It doesn’t seem to matter how hot it is though, I always feel weird without a cardigan or something to cover my shoulders.

kawaii Ice cream girl 6

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I work in a very air conditioned building, and although it may be stupid hot outside, sometimes it can feel like a freezer inside. Plus, I burn in the sun super easy so it’s always nice to be a little bit covered.

I have decided to take a big step, and have entered this years competition to become the next Kawaii Leader for Kawaii International!

The theme this year was “Kawaii Dolly” and I had so many idea’s for it, I just couldn’t wait to get started! I did the whole photo shoot by myself, from the hair, make up and outfit, even the photography I did using the timer on my phone and a tripod. I am super excited to be involved, and I hope to do well and become one of the finalists 🙂

Since today is the first day of voting, I thought I would share with you all some of my answers for the application, starting with which photo’s I chose to use. It was such a hard choice as I took so many! But in the end I chose this one as my full length photo:

And this one as my close up/head shot photo:

Outfit Break Down

I am a big fan of the colour pink, and I also just love to collect cute things. As you can see from the background, I have a rather large collection of adorable stuffed toys, and when it came to idea’s for this theme, I thought what better than to try to blend in and be one of my toys?

The Lolita cupcake silhouette is perfect for doing just this in my opinion, as the beautiful bell shape made from a dress and a petticoat helps to make me look like an oversized doll that could be standing on a pedestal.

Kawaii international kawaii dolly contest miss venusfury of oh so kawaii 1

The print I decided to wear is my Cotton Candy Shop JSK from Angelic pretty, as it is covered in cute bears and bunnies, and of course is a lovely shade of pink! Not to mention, it is also one of my favourite prints!

To break up all of the pink, and to help me look more like a toy, I am also wearing my purple bunny jacket from Angelic Pretty. The hood is just so fluffy, and the ears that are attached help to make this look just a little bit more toy-like.

For accessories, I am wearing the JSK’s matching over the knee socks, with some chunky purple high-heeled shoes.

Kawaii international kawaii dolly contest miss venusfury of oh so kawaii 2

On my head I have several different sized bows, the main head bow being from baby the stars shine bright. Two smaller pink and purple bows help to hold my fringe off my face and is finished with a pink dangling star clip from 6% Doki Doki.

For my make up, I decided to use bold colours that would stand out and be a little over the top. This is because most dolls you see these days have completely overstated make up, which I think has worked fantastically with this look. Eye shadow tones of light pink, purple and dark pink, finished with a heavy liner along with long bold lashes, silver glitter and some face gems. High pink blush and hot pink lipstick finishes off this look.

Over all, I am so pleased with how this outfit turned out! I feel super kawaii and adorable, an as though you could shrink me and put me on the shelf and I would fit in just like magic!

What Does Kawaii Mean to you?

To me, Kawaii is far more than just a word. To me it is everything. A fashion, a way of thinking, a lifestyle, a state of being. It’s a way to express yourself and share who you want to be with the world. It is a form of simple happiness and joy that never runs out, that you can carry around in your heart like your own little brand of unlimited cuteness to share with the world. The day I decided to stop listening to the thoughts of others and to live the kawaii life I chose was one of the happiest days of my life, it was so freeing. Kawaii is my brand of happiness.

How can you spread Kawaii Culture?

I always endeavor to share the kawaii culture in every way I possibly can!

When I am out in the public eye, I have always thought that the best way to lead is by example. That if one person see’s me somewhere, weather it is online or in real life, and that helps them gain the courage to enter a kawaii fashion, or be brave enough to stand up and be who they want to be, then I am doing my job right.

When online, I am forever posting cute snaps of outfits, talking about new releases or where to buy that cute blouse, sharing my experiences of Lolita meets I go to and generally sharing my lifestyle with anyone that is interested. To share a culture, the best way is to keep the lines of communication open so it is easy for other people who might be interested to know what is out there. I do this by posting on every single social networking media I can get my hands on, because the more the Kawaii culture is put out there, the easier it is to find.

Kawaii international kawaii dolly contest miss venusfury of oh so kawaii 4

I am always very open about my lifestyle and the things I love, and am always happy to talk to anyone who might have questions on how to kawaiify their lifestyle. To share all the knowledge I have and to be fun, open, friendly and welcoming I think is the best way to spread the kawaii culture!

I have recently become a rather big fan of thrifting, or Op-shopping as we call it where I am from. In Adelaide there is a big public transport bus that has been decked out on the inside to be an Op shop on wheels – it is super cool. The have heaps of awesome vintage stuff that they sell, and the bus travels around to different events. That brings me to this outfit. I had gone to the Royal Adelaid Show with Mr Tardo and the bus was there, so I had a look inside and found this super adorable jumper!

Its a lovely baby pink and white stripped jumper, and it is sooooo soft to touch. I just had to get it. This outfit isn’t all that exciting, but I thought I would share it anyway as it is super cute.

Ok friends brace yourself. There is NOTHING Pink in this outfit! 😛 I know right? I was just as shocked as you are. This outfit I put together to go watch my dads band play. It was a super cold night and I wanted to look hot and be warm/comfortable. Plus, I had just bought these pants and was completely in love with them, and looking for an excuse to wear them anywhere. Unfortunately for you, almost everything in this outfit I bought second-hand, but let’s do the run through anyway.

Pants : Second hand off the Lolita sales in English Facebook page

Blouse: Valley Girl

Shoes: DFO Melbourne

Bag: Second hand from one of the Adelaide Lolita Comm girls

Necklace: Was a birthday gift from my bestie Amanda.

Belt: Bought in Japan years ago (This why it is trashed xP )

I am so in love with these pants, they are just so funky and so different from anything you ever seen in Adelaide, which is why I had to buy them the second I found them. I named this outfit “My big hearts” not just for the bag and the necklace, but because there is actually a big red heart on the left butt pocket of these, although I forgot to take a photo.

OOTD Cute and Girly 4

This outfit of the day comes with a bit of a story. I work for my parents company, and we had just bought a new mini bus. We got it from a seller on the gold coast, and my dad drove it down to Adelaide. Since we had to get it registered for SA, it had to be checked for road worthiness etc, which is a job my brother usually does. This time though, it fell to me to get it done because my brother had decided to go on holidays. I had a chat with him about the things I needed to do before they would let me register it, and he said it was always a tough job. It was a lovely warm day, and I was desperate to wear this new skirt I had bought the week before. Which got me wondering, Would wearing a short skirt and being adorable get these mechanics to help me get this bus through quicker than my brother could do it? Only time would tell. Here is the outfit breakdown:

Cardigan: K-mart

Top: South Sydney Rabbito’s pink tank top

Stockings: Hello Kitty Stockings from a shop in Adelaide, but you can find them online Here.

Shoes: Dolly Heels from Kawaii Clothing

Skirt: I actually can’t remember! Some shop at pacific fair on the gold coast.

OOTD Cute and Girly 2OOTD Cute and Girly 3

This is how my social experiment ended: Everyone was very nice to me. I got a few cat calls when I went to the shipping yard to weigh the bus, but it actually ended up taking me an extra day longer than I was expecting. The mechanic I had put the bus into to have all the safety measures checked, didn’t actually check everything like they said they did. Two of the seat belts didn’t actually work, so it failed its seating inspection. One angry phone call later they promised to replace the broken seat belts for free, but I couldn’t get back in to have them rechecked until the next day. Bloody mechanics!
