Kawaii International Kawaii Leaders Dolly Competition

Kawaii International Kawaii Leaders Dolly Competition

I have decided to take a big step, and have entered this years competition to become the next Kawaii Leader for Kawaii International!

The theme this year was “Kawaii Dolly” and I had so many idea’s for it, I just couldn’t wait to get started! I did the whole photo shoot by myself, from the hair, make up and outfit, even the photography I did using the timer on my phone and a tripod. I am super excited to be involved, and I hope to do well and become one of the finalists 🙂

Since today is the first day of voting, I thought I would share with you all some of my answers for the application, starting with which photo’s I chose to use. It was such a hard choice as I took so many! But in the end I chose this one as my full length photo:

Outfit Break Down

I am a big fan of the colour pink, and I also just love to collect cute things. As you can see from the background, I have a rather large collection of adorable stuffed toys, and when it came to idea’s for this theme, I thought what better than to try to blend in and be one of my toys?

The Lolita cupcake silhouette is perfect for doing just this in my opinion, as the beautiful bell shape made from a dress and a petticoat helps to make me look like an oversized doll that could be standing on a pedestal.

The print I decided to wear is my Cotton Candy Shop JSK from Angelic pretty, as it is covered in cute bears and bunnies, and of course is a lovely shade of pink! Not to mention, it is also one of my favourite prints!

To break up all of the pink, and to help me look more like a toy, I am also wearing my purple bunny jacket from Angelic Pretty. The hood is just so fluffy, and the ears that are attached help to make this look just a little bit more toy-like.

For accessories, I am wearing the JSK’s matching over the knee socks, with some chunky purple high-heeled shoes.

On my head I have several different sized bows, the main head bow being from baby the stars shine bright. Two smaller pink and purple bows help to hold my fringe off my face and is finished with a pink dangling star clip from 6% Doki Doki.

For my make up, I decided to use bold colours that would stand out and be a little over the top. This is because most dolls you see these days have completely overstated make up, which I think has worked fantastically with this look. Eye shadow tones of light pink, purple and dark pink, finished with a heavy liner along with long bold lashes, silver glitter and some face gems. High pink blush and hot pink lipstick finishes off this look.

Over all, I am so pleased with how this outfit turned out! I feel super kawaii and adorable, an as though you could shrink me and put me on the shelf and I would fit in just like magic!

What Does Kawaii Mean to you?

To me, Kawaii is far more than just a word. To me it is everything. A fashion, a way of thinking, a lifestyle, a state of being. It’s a way to express yourself and share who you want to be with the world. It is a form of simple happiness and joy that never runs out, that you can carry around in your heart like your own little brand of unlimited cuteness to share with the world. The day I decided to stop listening to the thoughts of others and to live the kawaii life I chose was one of the happiest days of my life, it was so freeing. Kawaii is my brand of happiness.

How can you spread Kawaii Culture?

I always endeavor to share the kawaii culture in every way I possibly can!

When I am out in the public eye, I have always thought that the best way to lead is by example. That if one person see’s me somewhere, weather it is online or in real life, and that helps them gain the courage to enter a kawaii fashion, or be brave enough to stand up and be who they want to be, then I am doing my job right.

When online, I am forever posting cute snaps of outfits, talking about new releases or where to buy that cute blouse, sharing my experiences of Lolita meets I go to and generally sharing my lifestyle with anyone that is interested. To share a culture, the best way is to keep the lines of communication open so it is easy for other people who might be interested to know what is out there. I do this by posting on every single social networking media I can get my hands on, because the more the Kawaii culture is put out there, the easier it is to find.

I am always very open about my lifestyle and the things I love, and am always happy to talk to anyone who might have questions on how to kawaiify their lifestyle. To share all the knowledge I have and to be fun, open, friendly and welcoming I think is the best way to spread the kawaii culture!

My first ever Vlog!

My first ever Vlog!

So exciting don’t you think?!

There is an agency ( I’ll leave them un named for now) that approached me today, saying that they were looking for a model to do monthly Vlog’s using their products, and that they wanted me to audition for it. I figured why not, and thought I would give it a go. Mr Tardo has this super fancy web cam, so I borrowed it for a little while, one thing let to another, then BAM! I have my first video. I don’t really know what I’m doing, so I kinda just rambled a lot. I hope you all like it anyway!

I quite enjoyed making it, so even if I don’t end up getting the gig I may make some more in the future anyway. If you have some pointers or constructive criticism, I would love to hear it in the comments 🙂

My Pink #Geekspace!

My Pink #Geekspace!

So Molly from The Princess and The Geek had this great idea to share our geeky happy spaces, and since I have just freshly moved house and have everything out I figured what better time to show you all! 🙂 Welcome to my very pink geek space!

My #GeekSpace
On the right side of the wardrobe is where I keep all my kawaii clothes 🙂
My #GeekSpace

My #GeekSpace
My desk chair with my giant hello kitty pillow and my hello kitty dressing gown
My #GeekSpace
Next to my desk is my dress stand. I change it over quite often depending on what I want to wear and what my recent purchases are.
My #GeekSpace
My “vanity”. It’s actually an old desk I painted white with a gorgeous big white mirror I “borrowed” from y mother about 5 years ago… 😛 On the desk you will find my various perfumes, jewelry boxes containing my rings and necklaces, cups with bobby pins and make up brushes. Handing from the side of my shelf is my hair accessories collection.

My #GeekSpace
As mentioned previously, this is Hubert. I thought I would give you a close up as you may have missed him in the last photo since he is so tiny. He was my all time favorite teddy when I was a kid, and still is. My mum made him pants and a jacket one year when we were going skiing as I was worried he would get cold. the jacket has been lost, but he still has his pants.

Hanging off the side of my left shelf I have my earring rack 🙂

…And that is about it! I hope you have enjoyed your tour around my geek space!

Our House : Pink Walls and Ikea furnature

Our House : Pink Walls and Ikea furnature

Well, its official! Mr Tardo and I are home owners! They had us worried there for a bit as settlement took much longer than we expected, we thought there might have been a problem. We later found out that they took so long because the rep from the bank turned up to the settlement meeting only to discover that he had forgotten all our paperwork, and had to head back to their office to collect them. Once they had the paperwork though, everything went down without a hitch, and I was able to collect the keys that afternoon.

Me being all excitable just after I had picked up our keys

Man that day dragged on, as I had to go back to work after collecting the keys. Mr Tardo conveniently got home that night (he works FIFO of Whyalla), so we went straight from the airport to the house to check things out. Second drama of the new house? I had arranged to get the power connected that day, but when we got there, nothing would turn on. We made many phone calls to the power company and had half my family over trying to figure out where the main switch board was. We even called over my besties BF, who is an electrician, to help us search for it. After chatting with a bunch of the neighbors and running around the house/street for a while, we eventually discovered that all the main switch boards for each house were actually on the side of one of the houses at the other end of the street, behind a tree. Unhelpful, but good to know for the future, and just like that we had power. It wasn’t until we had wandered around the house with the lights on that we realized how big it was. We hadn’t ever seen the place without furniture before. We decided that we could probably use a few extra bits a pieces, so the very next day we headed for Ikea!

Our House <3
1. Mr Tardo eating pudding. Because Yum! 2. Sitting one a pile of cushions whilst we decided what to get. 3. Collecting our boxes from the storage area 4. I was actually there helping too!

Mr Tardo loves the meatballs at Ikea, so lunch was on the agenda before we did any shopping. Once we got round to it, I think we bought out the shop we got so much stuff! A new bigger dinning room table, a whole bunch of chairs, a cabinet for the dining room, 2 pink shelves for my room (!!^_^!!), a dress stand, some pillows… and a bunch of stuff I can’t actually remember right now :S Once we got it all home, it seemed a little daunting, so we called an emergency Ikea furniture building party 😛 Amanda, Kris (our handy electrician from the night before) and Jo all came around to help us out. Halfway through we got pretty hungry and ordered pizza and some soft drinks, but it wasn’t until they arrived that we realized that none of our plates and/or glasses had made it to the house yet. All we could find were my champagne glasses, so fancy soda’s it was.

Our House <3
1. Kris being classy drinking Mountain Dew from a champagne glass! 2. Jo putting together out table chairs 3. Kris putting together a chair whilst Amanda supervises. 4. Myself, Tardo and Amanda holding a ladder whilst Kris was in the roof trying to figure out why the bathroom fan didn’t work. Gosh he is handy!

As you can imagine, I was super keen to get started painting my new room (well, office or fairy cave as Mr Tardo has dubbed it). So straight to Bunnings I went to get myself some paint colours! I was so happy with the two shades of pink that I had chosen, that I decided to get started straight away. I have never really been one for waiting. My brother Andy and his girlfriend Amanda (yes, two Amanda’s, it gets confusing) were kind enough to come over and help me get it done, which I was grateful for. it would seem that I am terrible at painting in straight line (Ie, for in the corners), so Amanda did it for me. Before you freak out that we were painting with no drop sheets, it was all good. The carpets were trashed already so we were having them replaced the very next week 🙂

1. Me painting my hot pink feature wall. 2. My hands covered in paint after a full evening of painting. 3. the wall before the paint 4. My awesome brother Andy, fixing up the lines in the corner for me (I am terrible at it)

I think the funniest moment of the whole weekend was when Amanda got the paint brush she had in one hand, confused with the piece of pizza she had in the other. Apparently although “candy floss” coloured paint looks delicious, it is in fact actually not.

Our House <3
Amanda accidentally tried to eat the paint. So naturally I had to take a photo before helping her wash it off 😛

Stay tuned for more updates, once all the carpets have been replaced we will be moving in! 😀
