Lolita meet at the Flinders Street dessert market!

Lolita meet at the Flinders Street dessert market!

dessert-market

I somehow managed to forget about this cute little meet we had, so I thought I would share it now. This was back in September! Now i think about it, it happened whilst I was on my accidental hiatus. Oops! In Adelaide, we have this cute little market in the city called the flinders street markets. Usually it is open for just anything, but every now and then they have a themed day, so when they announced they were having a dessert themed market we just had to organize ourselves a little meet there.

I wore my Emily Temple Cute Sweets patisserie JSK as I thought it fitting, and took along my newly acquired pink swimmer biscuit bag.

I had anticipated eating junk all day, so I hadn’t had a huge breakfast, and I was not disappointed. The amount of gluten free stuff they had there was amazing. It all tasted so good too, my favorite being a salted caramel and chocolate bake GF doughnut.

Of course I had to have my morning tea, and the company I bought it from said i could enter a competition to win lots of free tea (just fine by me!) if I took a selfie with the van and my tea. I did, and posted it on Instagram, but I didn’t win unfortunately.

There was only a few of us, but we had a lovely time wandering around and gorging ourselves on all sorts of sweet things. I think it took me a week to come down from the sugar high. Totally worth it though 😛

And remember, if you haven’t already, please vote for me in the Kawaii International dolly contest so I can come one of their Kawaii leaders! All you have to do is click on the image below, and like my picture. Thank you! ^_^

Kawaii International Kawaii Leaders Dolly Competition

Kawaii International Kawaii Leaders Dolly Competition

kawaii-international-dolly-comp

I have decided to take a big step, and have entered this years competition to become the next Kawaii Leader for Kawaii International!

The theme this year was “Kawaii Dolly” and I had so many idea’s for it, I just couldn’t wait to get started! I did the whole photo shoot by myself, from the hair, make up and outfit, even the photography I did using the timer on my phone and a tripod. I am super excited to be involved, and I hope to do well and become one of the finalists 🙂

Since today is the first day of voting, I thought I would share with you all some of my answers for the application, starting with which photo’s I chose to use. It was such a hard choice as I took so many! But in the end I chose this one as my full length photo:

Outfit Break Down

I am a big fan of the colour pink, and I also just love to collect cute things. As you can see from the background, I have a rather large collection of adorable stuffed toys, and when it came to idea’s for this theme, I thought what better than to try to blend in and be one of my toys?

The Lolita cupcake silhouette is perfect for doing just this in my opinion, as the beautiful bell shape made from a dress and a petticoat helps to make me look like an oversized doll that could be standing on a pedestal.

Kawaii international kawaii dolly contest miss venusfury of oh so kawaii 1

The print I decided to wear is my Cotton Candy Shop JSK from Angelic pretty, as it is covered in cute bears and bunnies, and of course is a lovely shade of pink! Not to mention, it is also one of my favourite prints!

To break up all of the pink, and to help me look more like a toy, I am also wearing my purple bunny jacket from Angelic Pretty. The hood is just so fluffy, and the ears that are attached help to make this look just a little bit more toy-like.

For accessories, I am wearing the JSK’s matching over the knee socks, with some chunky purple high-heeled shoes.

On my head I have several different sized bows, the main head bow being from baby the stars shine bright. Two smaller pink and purple bows help to hold my fringe off my face and is finished with a pink dangling star clip from 6% Doki Doki.

For my make up, I decided to use bold colours that would stand out and be a little over the top. This is because most dolls you see these days have completely overstated make up, which I think has worked fantastically with this look. Eye shadow tones of light pink, purple and dark pink, finished with a heavy liner along with long bold lashes, silver glitter and some face gems. High pink blush and hot pink lipstick finishes off this look.

Over all, I am so pleased with how this outfit turned out! I feel super kawaii and adorable, an as though you could shrink me and put me on the shelf and I would fit in just like magic!

What Does Kawaii Mean to you?

To me, Kawaii is far more than just a word. To me it is everything. A fashion, a way of thinking, a lifestyle, a state of being. It’s a way to express yourself and share who you want to be with the world. It is a form of simple happiness and joy that never runs out, that you can carry around in your heart like your own little brand of unlimited cuteness to share with the world. The day I decided to stop listening to the thoughts of others and to live the kawaii life I chose was one of the happiest days of my life, it was so freeing. Kawaii is my brand of happiness.

How can you spread Kawaii Culture?

I always endeavor to share the kawaii culture in every way I possibly can!

When I am out in the public eye, I have always thought that the best way to lead is by example. That if one person see’s me somewhere, weather it is online or in real life, and that helps them gain the courage to enter a kawaii fashion, or be brave enough to stand up and be who they want to be, then I am doing my job right.

When online, I am forever posting cute snaps of outfits, talking about new releases or where to buy that cute blouse, sharing my experiences of Lolita meets I go to and generally sharing my lifestyle with anyone that is interested. To share a culture, the best way is to keep the lines of communication open so it is easy for other people who might be interested to know what is out there. I do this by posting on every single social networking media I can get my hands on, because the more the Kawaii culture is put out there, the easier it is to find.

Kawaii international kawaii dolly contest miss venusfury of oh so kawaii 4

I am always very open about my lifestyle and the things I love, and am always happy to talk to anyone who might have questions on how to kawaiify their lifestyle. To share all the knowledge I have and to be fun, open, friendly and welcoming I think is the best way to spread the kawaii culture!

Thank you so much for reading my entry, I hope you now understand how I feel about all thinks Kawaii! I would really appreciate it if you could send a vote my way in this competition. All you have to do is click on the banner below or any of the photo’s in this post, and give the photo a “like” I would be for ever grateful!

I have finally gotten around to creating a page dedicated to my wardrobe! You will find a link to the page in the main menu up above or, you could just

I thought having a page instead of a post would be best, as it makes the wardrobe easier to find, and easier for me to update as I get new things and sell old things. I will be updating it super soon, as I just purchased AP’s Crystal Dream Carnival!

So far I have only added all of my dresses and skirts but I plan to very soon as photos of my shoes, and bag collection (Which upon inspection is actually a whole lot bigger than I thought it was). Hope you enjoy it!

50 Shades pinker, my lolita high tea birthday party!

50 Shades pinker, my lolita high tea birthday party!

50-shades-pinker-birthday-lolita-hight-tea

Happy Birthday to mmmeeeeee!!! yes, today is my actual birthday! But things are getting so busy at the moment that I decided to hold my birthday party a week and a half early 😛 Lolita has really become a big deal for me over the past year, as a lot of you may have noticed, so I wanted to throw a party and invite the whole community as a kind of thanks for making my life awesome.

I decided that since I had missed Britt’s 50 shades of Pink party earlier on in the year since I was away in Queensland for Dan and Jacqui’s Engagement party, I would hold the sequel 😛 and thus, my 5o Shades Pinker party was created!

I spent the better part of the day before baking up a storm, and managed to get myself a little frazzled as a few people pulled out of coming last-minute. When time came for the party to start, I was so super excited.

50 shades pinker lolita hight tea 7

I decided to wear my Emily Temple Cute rose garden dress, because it is just the most amazing shade of pink, plus it is super light and just perfect for the warm spring whether we were expecting that day. I was planning to wear a blonde wig, but I just couldn’t get it to behave itself, so I ended up styling my own hair for the outfit. I am really pleased with how it turned out, plus it was much cooler in the hot weather.

Mr Tardo being the best man a girl could ask for, got up super early to make sure the garden was looking lovely and the lawns were mowed, and then even got dressed up for the party too! Doesn’t he look super adorable in his pink shirt and bow tie?! Gosh I love that guy!

50 shades pinker lolita hight tea 5

Once all the girls started arriving, it was straight into the food and gossip about dream dresses we can’t afford.

50 shades pinker lolita hight tea 1

It was absolutely delightful sitting outside under the porch as well. I was a little worried it might get too hot, as we have never actually had that many people over for a party before. At least not one that didn’t involve sitting in the dark playing board games 😛

50 shades pinker lolita hight tea 2

It was decided that my pink room was where all the outfit shots should be. In hind sight, I wish I thought to move my ugly red washing basket from the shots! Lucky all the girls looked just beautiful anyway.

Of course at the end we all grouped together in the garden for the obligatory group photo, and even Bella decided to be in it!

50 shades pinker lolita hight tea 3

My first ever party at our new(ish) house was a complete success and as a result, it looks like we are now going to be hosting the annual Lolita community Halloween Meet. I can’t wait!

As for today, i look forward to spending the day at work with some of my favourite clients, and then going out for dinner with some close friends and family tonight.

Thanks for reading!

Corina’s Birthday High Tea at Just Tickled Pink

Corina’s Birthday High Tea at Just Tickled Pink

Just-tickled-pink-high-tea

Gosh this was a little while ago now, but was such a lovely day. My lovely loli friend Corina decided to have a high tea meet at Just Tickled Pink for her birthday, and there was a nice little group of 7 of us who attended. As usual, I decided to wear a rather pink co-ordinate to go with the theme of the cafe, and when I arrived i found I matched the decor rather nicely 😛

Corina's Birthday High Tea 6

Upon arrival, they gave us a glass of this sparkling berry something. It was delicious, but I was a little disappointed it wasn’t champagne!

Corina's Birthday High Tea 4

As always, I got my very own tray of gluten-free treats. It was definitely better than some of the other attempts at gluten free I have been given, as everything was delicious! There was GF sandwiches, sausage rolls and a little salmon quiche for savory, and a cupcake, cookie and banana cake for sweets. I would have loved to see some gluten-free scones, but everything was so yummy it more than made up for not having any.

Corina's Birthday High Tea 2 Corina's Birthday High Tea 3

One of the ladies that worked there was walking around with a gorgeous looking giant silver teapot, that looked rather vintage, and kept filling up our tea cups. This made me happy as I love drinking endless amounts of tea, as you know. Much gossiping was done before we finished eating, but then we discovered they had an even pinker room out the back for functions, so we head out there for some of our group photos.

Corina's Birthday High Tea 7 Corina's Birthday High Tea 8

Much silliness and selfies followed, as well as the customary group and outfit shots. I hope Corina enjoyed her birthday, because I sure did!

Newbie Lolita FAQ Swap Meet

Newbie Lolita FAQ Swap Meet

newbie-lolita-FAQ-swap-Meet

We recently had another Newbie meet for the Adelaide Lolita community as we recently had an influx of new lolita’s. The meet was set up with different sections, so people could ask questions about lolita, buy/swap/sell new or second hand lolita items, and generally just hang out.

Newbie Lolita FAQ Swap Meet jun 15 2

For something different, this time around I thought I would bring along some of my nail art stuff and do some pretty nails for a small charge. There were a few people not too sure about it at first, but in the afternoon I got swamped and didn’t end up having enough time to do everyone.

Newbie Lolita FAQ Swap Meet jun 15 3

I did do a super cute pink/green set for one of the girls, which I will post with my next nail art post!

Considering I had planned on doing nails all day, I didn’t want to go too over the top with my co-ord. I stuck with my “Natural” hair, a big head bow, ankle socks, comfy shoes, a cardigan and this cute desert print dress from Emily Temple Cute (I don’t remember the name of it I’m sorry!).

Newbie Lolita FAQ Swap Meet jun 15 5Newbie Lolita FAQ Swap Meet jun 15 4

I was super pleased with how it came together, especially with the cupcake print apron I wore that my lovely friend Amanda bought me as a house warming present!

Newbie Lolita FAQ Swap Meet jun 15 1

I don’t think there were as many people there as the mods were hoping for, but it still turned out to be a pretty good day 🙂

International Lolita Day at Astonish Cafe!

International Lolita Day at Astonish Cafe!

International-lolita-day-at-astonish-cafe-adelaide

This year, our first International Lolita day meet was held at a place called Astonish cafe, in the city. We had all heard they did fantastic deserts, so of course we had to try it.

For my co-ord, I decided it was high time I stopped sulking about the fact that I accidentally bought they JSK of AP’s Cotton Candy Special Set instead of the Salophette, and just wear the damn thing (you can watch my un-boxing video here). It is such a gorgeous print, and was just going to waste sitting in my closet. SInce it is such a busy print, I decided to go with just simple make up, with my purple/brown toned wig.

International lolita day June 2015 1

After all the sulking I did, I was actually really please with how to JSK looked on me. I was secretly a little excited that it was actually pretty cold that day as well, because it meant I got to wear my recently acquired purple bunny jacket, which went so well with the dress.

International lolita day June 2015 5

I was running a little late (as always) as I had to get some cash out on the way, and when I arrived most of the girls were already there. It was such a cute little venue, done up all old worldy with vintage books, fire places and furniture. Was very dark inside though.

International lolita day June 2015 2

When it came time to order, I just couldn’t make up my mind what I wanted. This is apparently something that happens often, so they have a little tray you can order which has little mini samples of all the different soda’s they make. I’m so glad I got it, because not only was it adorable, but they were all so tasty! I also got a Pavlova which also came with home-made lemon sorbet, which was amazing.

International lolita day June 2015 4

It took them a fair while to bring all of our food out, and they forgot a few people which was unfortunate, but that gave us plenty of time for chatting and catching up. There were quite a few girls there that I hadn’t seen at a meet in ages, so it was good to catch up.

International lolita day June 2015 3

Once we were all done, we went outside for our group photo.

International lolita day June 2015 7

Then we all got a little silly taking selfies and more group shots 😛

International lolita day June 2015 6

I got a little creative after we took a dress print photo, and turned the camera around and took a photo upwards. Some of the faces the girls are pulling are just priceless!

This one is of the video I made of me unboxing my cotton candy special set, which I just had to own 😛 I was so excited for it to arrive! High Tea at the Hilton

High Tea at the Hilton

We recently discovered that the Hilton Hotel in Adelaide has been in cahoots with Heighs chocolate putting on a delicious high tea in one of their restaurants. Naturally we had to have a meet there, because who doesn’t love chocolate or high tea? One of our lovely community members Miss Tink was kind enough to organize one for us!

Lolita Hilton high tea Jan 15 2

Since I am saving my chess chocolate to wear on valentine’s day when I *should* have the whole set (fingers crossed!), I decided to go with a co-ord that is not something I would usually wear. I am so glad that I did, because I am so pleased with how it came out!

Lolita Hilton high tea Jan 15 1

I have had this Emily temple cute dress sitting in my wardrobe for a little while now. It was one of my trawling Facebook at midnight impulse buys, and for ages I have been trying to decide whether I actually like it or not. Every time I have put it on I just haven’t been able to co-ordinate it right. I think it is the addition of the blonde wig that has made it work for me, as all my others are either dark colours or bright pinks. I bought it not long ago for my costume for Jarryd and Katies Meme party, but I am so pleased with how nicely it goes with this dress. And to think, I was so close to reselling it too!

Lolita Hilton high tea Jan 15 3Lolita Hilton high tea Jan 15 4

The food was absolutely adorable, as expected for high tea. As usual, I had my own separate plate of gluten-free yummies, and they were all pretty good! On top of all the delicious cakes and things they brought to our table, we also had access to the tea bar. This was just great. They had little plungers and a massive collection of tea’s, so you could have what ever type you wanted and as strong as you liked (which i found fantastic since I like my tea super strong). My favourite flavour they had there was the rose and vanilla flavour, I think I had about 2 whole pots of it!

Lolita Hilton high tea Jan 15 5

Now lets not forget to mention the chocolate bar we had free reign over as well… it was all amazingly delicious. I never thought I would ever think I’d had enough chocolate in one sitting, but man I was on sugar overload by the end of the day.

Lolita Hilton high tea Jan 15 6

Here is all of us after we had finished, I think we were all ready for a nap!

Lolita Hilton high tea Jan 15 7

It was such a lovely high tea, that I think we are planning to go for another one sometime soon. I do wish this was the end of my post here, but unfortunately it is not. I felt like I wanted to write something, as this was the first time I found myself in the situation. After we had finished and I was heading back to my car, I had my first ever bad experience wearing Lolita.

As I was walking down the street some old guy saw me and pulled out his phone and started taking photo’s as I walked past. Nothing completely out of the ordinary there. I just sort of muttered “You could ask you know”, and started walking a bit quicker. I didn’t think too much more about it, until I turned around to see he was following me. So I walked a little bit faster. So did he. I turned around and asked him to stop taking photo’s of me, but all he did was giggle and put his phone right in my face. So I held my bag in front of my face, told him to F-off and ran. THEN SO DID HE. This guy was quite literally chasing me down the street and giggling! This went on in the middle of the day, and no one even batted an eye lid. Luckily I ran into a group of some of the other girls who had gone for a walk in the markets, and they walked me to my car. But this guy just would not take a hint. I was so pissed off. What makes people think they have the right to treat people that way?

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for having my photo taken whilst I am in Lolita. I get it, I look different and its cute and not something you see every day. If you ask to take a photo I am more than happy to oblige, I’ll stand there and pose whilst you take as many as you like. But chasing me down the street? That’s just rude. Have some damn respect people, I’m human too you know.

One Day In Paradise : 5th Birthday Celebrations!

One Day In Paradise : 5th Birthday Celebrations!

Us lovely Adelaide lolita’s have been spoilt enough lately to have our very own dedicated shop open up in the CBD, One day in Paradise. Although its physical Adelaide location is still rather new, its online presence has been around for a long time, and it has also had shop fronts in both Melbourne and Armidale. On December 7th, which also happened to be international lolita day, we all gathered at the store to help Marie celebrate One day in Paradises 5th birthday.

401

As we arrived were all given gifts of adorable stubbie holders, which as you can see I straight away put to good use! (it was a very hot day)

374

There was a fair bit of silliness…

391

A quiz about ODIP, which I hate to say I failed miserably 🙁

388

We all shared some amazing macaroons

381

… and of course, it wouldn’t be a lolita meet without a big group photo!

396

I had such a lovely time with some very lovely ladies, and also managed to put a few more items on my wardrobe wish list.

ODIP 5th Birthday! ODIP 5th Birthday!

Happy Birthday One Day In Paradise, and congratulations as well as a big Thank You to Marie for bringing all these wonderfully frilly things to Adelaide for us!
